'12 TN DT Tevin Bryson

First.....Bryson and Shanks are rated as a 3 star and finished with a talent grade of 87 overall by 247...just throwing it out there.

Second....I know for a fact that West Tenn has been overlooked for years concerning talent, ....especially in the smaller school systems. Oh yeah..Jerry Reese that was talked about a few post earlier who played very well for UT martin and led his high school team to a state championship was from a little town called Tiptonville, TN aka Lake County Falcons. These small schools like Milan, Lake County, Humboldt, Brownsville, ETC., usually don't have connected coaches who can get their kids exposure.

I played at Dyersburg High in the middle 90's and had to send out my own D*** VHS video to even get looked at by bigger schools. I had all of the accolades from being all state to all region 7-4a starting from my sophomore year, but no exposure due to playing on a losing team. It happens and sucks when your on the opposite end of the state, but kids go unnoticed every year on this end of the state. It does, over time, send the wrong message to kids in West Tenn. However, ole miss, arkansas, alabama and all the FCS schools say thanks. However, I received a scholarship to play for Houston Nutt at Murray State and had a great career there with 2 OVC championships. So it worked out.

IMO, this Bryson kid is light years ahead of Alan Carson and others on talent alone. He is 6'4 and 285 right now with very good feet and explosiveness. This is the kind of kid with proper S & C that could be a big time contributer by year 2. Ole Piss is knocking on his door and Tenn better get to courting him before its too late.

I think I read today on TOS (VQ) that Rivals has said they would have a ranking on him very soon. Considering the opposition he plays against, it would be highly unlikely to be anything higher than a mid-range 3*, in my opinion especially since we are interested in him (sarcasm).

Given the stance by the Cheek administration, a 2.5 gpa with a 17 ACT (pretty much minimum qualifier level) from a rural area will be a hard sell to get him in -- a true first test for Hart. He definitely needs to retake the ACT to see if he can improve his score by 3-4 points. A lot may depend on what his core grades look like, and I suspect this is a big area that the staff is looking into.

A lot could also depend on how we are looking with Shanks, Kirven, and Tomlinson.

How does Bryson's grades compare to ELoften?

I agree about his level of talent being better than Carson, he is impressive looking athletic looking player. I would not be upset if they took him ASAP...

Bryson has some grades, loften had none

Bryson is borderline NCAA wise but should be fine. Loften was as well but wasn't admitted. Comparing them should tell us if grades are a reason to pass.

You can't afford a kid not get into school with the 25 rule.

agreed, people will argue for blanc saying you cant teach speed, well you cant teach a kid to be 6 foot 4 and 285 pounds either. nor can you teach an out of stater to have that homegrown love for everything vol football. il take a project like this guy who will give his all to his boyhood favorite school all day long. especially seeing as we lost jacobs.

It's settled. If we offer Bryson and he comes to UT, we have to think of a nickname for him and C. Blanc.

They are setting up an official visit and he's talked to CLT already. Thanks for trying to help the coaching staff I'm sure they need it.

Thanks for regurgitating vol quest material. I'm sure hubbs needs the exposure! Not being a nega vol but the coaches need all the help they can get from what i've seen lately.:good!:

My point is that NSD is drawing near, all the while other teams are calling and setting up visits with this kid to. Those teams are closer to his home and could get a leg up if CLT drags his feet or slow rolls the kid. Kids frame/ability reminds me of Jesse Mahelona (RIP), but taller.

Wasn't claiming it as my own chief, but you said the coaches NEED to do something they have already done. Just trying to alleviate either your ignorance if you didn't know, or your stupidity if you did.

I have no crystal ball but I would feel good about signing this guy and feel like the dline with O'Brien and Sentimore has been helped.

Wow. Merry Xmas to you too. :hi:

Scrooge.

Coach friend of mine here in West TN, that got dominated by Humboldt this year, said Tevin was the most athletic DT he has seen in a while

This is my last post concerning your trolling antics ABB4. Stupidity is trying to act like you know more about football than you do. You probably sitting around with your play station and jergens lotion hoping for validity with your stupid/ignorance claims, all the while, hoping that they will vindicate your internet tough man attitude.

Furthermore, I read the particular clip your referring to about CLT contacting him by phone and maybe going to see the kid play basketball. I was implying that it sounded like he was a fall back option from that article and may not be taken seriously until we miss out on anther 2-3 DT's.

However, there may be other options that are a more legitimate talent behind the scenes that we don't know about, but hopefully not another project like Greg Clark. Was my opinion and still my opinion and there is nothing ignorant about that post "Chief" numbnuts. Merry Christmas and quit playing with yourself.:)
