12 TN RB I'tavius Mathers

He's a good back and all but I like what Cross brings to our team a little more. We have more than one Mathers type of back. Cross is the big smash mouth back that we don't have and will need on a third and 1-2 against Bama or LSU. Lane, Neal, and Smith are maybe even better slashing type of backs than Mathers. But this is IMO so what do I know..........

Are you hearing news in the "HAM"; local radio, etc about IM?

mark my words he will be at either Alabama or Auburn, although he has visited Tennessee this past week his father absolutely hates UT and loves the two SEC school in the state directly south of middle Tennessee. Source comes from his former coach and Mathers' father's best friend

He will go somewhere he can play early. That is whats most important for him right now. I'm thinking that if Auburn offers he will accept

This.

He isn't UT bound.

Disappointing to hear. Hopefully he and his family will realize that Tennessee may be the best fit for the I-Train. It might be easier to get on the field at Tennessee than at Auburn or Alabama. If Auburn and Alabama both sign 5 star backs, will I'tavius still choose going there over Tennessee?

His father loves Alabama and Auburn? I don't think we want someone who's grown up in this kind of environment. Bound to have some kind of psychological disorders.

I don't listen to local radio. Too much Tide Talk hahahahaha. Would make me throw up in my mouth to listen to that crap. I think Cross is going to be a factor his freshman year. He's a big back with good feet. We won't miss Mathers if he goes to Auburn or Bama. If he's smart he would go to the Barn because he won't play at Bama or here. Tom Smith, Neal, Lane, and Cross are better backs IMO.

I believe he is better than you think. It might take him awhile to play here or anywhere in the SEC as everyone has good tailbacks but I do believe he will be a star in the SEC in the future. I would love to see him at UT.

People who say he isn't the real deal are crazy. He is dominating one of the toughest districts in the south. If he was a Florida prospect he would be a 5 star. In state products never seem to get much love from out of staters in terms of rankings. He is a CJ Spiller type athlete. I really wish we would pull him, but if that happens then I am the EASTER BUNNY. His father will not allow it. Shame, but he'll be playing in Bama. Satan will land him.

This is not a knock on Mathers(I think he's pretty damn good) but Spiller was a speed demon.

Mathers is completely different type of RB.

I actually prefer Mathers over the other instate backs, but I haven't completed my talent scout course so this could change fwiw.

Correct me if I'm mistaken but I believe he would have to get an offer from Alabama or Auburn first. His dad can love any team he wants but if they don't want his son, it's not going to change.

I really like Mathers.... But I really don't see him as the CJ Spiller type of back.

Cj Spiller type wow.........all of that post went out of the window with that statement there. Spiller was one of the fastest players in the nation when he was in college. Mathers isn't even the fastest man in his own state in HS. He's a good back and all but he's not close to Spiller's level.

Fair enough guys, Spiller speed no... I should have been more specific. He is as versatile in terms of returns, hands, and running ability like a Spiller. This kid is better than all of you think
