12 TN RB I'tavius Mathers

There is a good chance Shadowens won't be Blackmans coach. Shadowens is a Smyrna Graduate and brought back to back titles for the dogs. The year Wilks and Sonny Gray graduated he resigned as Smyrnas coach. Saying he wanted to be closer to his daughters he took the job at Middle Tenn. Christian School. The next year he pulls off his best Lane Kiffin move by becoming the coach at Smyrnas closest rival..... Blackman. Come on Phillip are you really upset that Wilks got moved around?

USC was a favorite of Mathers. Graham was a reason why...

Per Fortenberry:
Not only has Davis spoke with Graham, we also expect Mathers to hear from Graham. Graham was in his home Sunday night.

LOL, WOW... Benedict Arnold approves of this tactic!

This CJG hire has everyone here all jazzed up! :dance2:

I wonder how long the Graham offer had been on the table before he accepted the position? Just curious about what was being said Sunday night.

I'd like to think Jay can talk him into coming here, but there's still more to it than just a position coach. I am not expecting a commitment from Mathers, but I would expect CJG to help land us at least one more back in this class. If he can make Lane, Smith, Toney, insert freshman back here, even 1/2 of Marcus Lattimore we should have a better run game in '13.

I still can't figure out why everyone is so enamored with Mathers, other than the fact that he's from Murfeesboro. Maybe I'm wrong but he just looks like a good back. Nothing that could change our running game dramatically.

Kids the best in-state back we have had in years. If you seen him play in person.. you would want him.

The addition of a good back could change our running game dramatically

HE JUST AS GOOD IF NOT BETTER THAN WHATS ON THE HILL NOW! BUT WE STILL NEED A GREAT LINE COACH,NOT JUST GOOD!ANYTHING IS AN IMPROVEMENT!:clapping:

You all think he's in the same category as Pender, Davis, Bourque, Perkins, Marshall, etc? I don't see it.

I didn't say that. What I said was that he's not in the same category as Poole. Of course I'd much rather have Pender or Davis, but Mathers would still be a big upgrade.

That would be most excellent! He has a killer cutback move and serious burners once in open space. Get him to the second level and he gone about 70% of the time.

Pretty darn good.
