'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

He's talking in circles and making himself look like a clown. The easiest and best option is to ignore until he proves he can rationally put together a string of thoughts without making himself look like an ass.

Coaches that are "good recruiters" can recruit before they ever win a game.

Other coaches suck at recruiting and have to scratch together wins on the field with brilliant coaching and the recruits just show up because of the coaching.

Some rare ones do both, but I dont see that here.

So my point was that CBJ isnt showing that he is the first type of coach, so he had better be the second type otherwise UT will continue to live in the cellar.

Is that thought understandable enough for you?

Brady Hoke is one losing season from being on the Proverbial Hot Seat. He went from an 8 win season to a soft schedule 10 win team on to a mediocre season this year. The guy isn't a great coach, solid yes. He won't last at Michigan. Plus Rich Rod recruited most of the players in the upper class. Lets see where he is after this year.

UM could easily run the table beat OSU and be in the title game very soon imo

with the OL's their bringing in the kid made the right choice imo i dont know if theres been a better group in the 12 and 13 recruiting classes

I understand what you're saying. But Butch Jones has been on the job for a month and a half and you are already declaring him dead in the water as far as recruiting goes. That is asinine.

Good luck Mr. Green! We are not better off without him. I think he chose UM because he knows their staff better, not because he's afraid of the SEC.

Calm down brah, it is just one dude, we are still in the hunt for another 5-6 four and five stars player's......if we miss out on all those then u can complain about Butch Jones recruiting.

ok i know this is going to sound like bashing and me trying to stir something up but i promise it's not. this is not meant negative towards anyone or any program and it's not me trying to gloat either i've just heard this so much over the past couple of months i can't hold it in any longer.

current precedent is that if you want to play for a NC you go to alabama, maybe even lsu or auburn, not the SEC as a whole. a NC may not happen at UM but by your theory he could have went to kentucky and had a better chance at a NC than at michigan. having the best team, probably even top 2 teams in the country, in your conference doesn't automatically mean it's the best conference. how could the best conference in football have two teams that didn't even win a game last year? if NC is what DG was after logic would have put him at alabama

Also you could ask if D.Green really is the best back why wouldn't he throw his name in the mix at Bama, since they are the best power running team in college football? I personally do not think Green is the best back what so ever. I would have loved to have had him but I think there are about Ten backs better and were still in the running for Two of them in Barber and Ford

You can make a snap judgement on CBJ....but until we have a sample size of recruiting classes/seasons you can't back up that argument.

after the RichRod fiasco everyone in AA is happy about having a "michigan man" back as the coach and he'll get a lot more leeway than RR did. i think having RR players had more downside than upside for him. he had to basically re-write the playbook just to accommodate for denard. denard wasn't a very good qb but as an athlete you had to put him out there and he knew the qb playbook better than say receiver. is he going to be the next saban or miles or meyer, probably not but he'll be solid like you said enough for him to stick around a while

Yep. They have a decent ND team, an erratic Nebraska, Sparty and OSU to deal with and they're playing for a chance at the glass football. Those odds look a hell of a lot better than having to get through the SEC plus a pretty nasty OOC game or two.

i haven't watched enough highlight reels to even form an opinion of who the best back is. from the sample i saw in the all american games, kamara looked the best to me. alabama did offer green, as to why he didn't even have them in the final running i have no clue. if i were to guess bamas rb depth chart is probably pretty long. for UM i think he fits the mold of what they're looking to move back to perfectly.

does not a program make or break. If you knew that he was Hershel or Dorsett, might have an argument.

Good luck to him in the frozen North. He will never know how good he is because he chose to not play big boy college football.

dooley also had time. CBJ has only been here for a short amount of time.

WRONG!! Dooley had 3 weeks before NSD when he was hired. He got Da'Rick Rogers 5*, James Stone *4 star, and Justin Hunter *4 star in that little time, all will have NFL careers. Butch Jones was hired first week of December, he's had close to two months.

Dooley was just a terrible game manager, Butch Jones could still finish strong, no need to hit the panic button. Your statement about "More time" was false though.

He may stick around for a while, and he is solid. Solid doesn't cut it at major programs. Johnny Majors was solid and we canned him. Unless you beat OsU, which I don't know if you can out recruit them. Meyer can recruit and will recruit the south as well as the north. I wish DG nothing but the best, I just don't know if you guys can beat Urban

Say what? Go to Michigan and play in front of one of the best crowds every week. Rose Bowl possible virtually every year. Or go to UT and watch them try and rebuild what they had 15 years ago. Music City Bowl more realistic in the next 4 years, maybe.

Do you really think he made the wrong decision?
