'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

And so it begins again. 12 new pages on Derrick Green based solely on a rumor that he "might" be considering transferring to TN or Ole Miss. Hilarious.
And yes, I am here.

Yeah, and look at the background of the writer of the article and the publication. Screaming credibility.

Question? In this case is it a violation for a coach to contact a player enrolled in another school before they decommit, or does said interested university have to wait till the student athlete has been released before contact is made? If you are not 100% sure please don't answer because I can guess myself.

Zero contact permitted until a release is granted from michigan. After the regular season at the earliest and my guess would be after their bowl before that would happen

Don't remember this excitement you are referring to. I think it was a case of immediate need. We now have a couple of guys in the 2014 class. Lane's year to shine is next year, and we have serviceable back ups like Pickett and Tom Smith.

If lane was going to shine he would have by now. Imo

Montario Hardesty says "hi"

Wow you took the words out of my mouth. I was going to say the exact same thing. I personally think he should be getting a lot more carries than he is now. He gets north and south and gets what is there much better than Neal does, and seems like he's better at shedding tackles to me (mostly because he as better balance than Neal).

It's kinda funny that some people say they don't want Green because he might be a "me" player but were totally wanting Michael Dyer to come on board.

Excellent point. Not only did they want Dyer, hell they wanted Green when he was coming out. Now they don't want him.

It's pretty simple. Dyer performed on an elite level in college and green hasn't.

He's got 3 more years to play, lol. Never mind Dyers charges he caught. Was it convinient for you to leave that tid bit out?

Oh yeah, Dyer was in a system known for producing gaudy numbers too, surrounded by a National Championship offense.

A coach from any other school may not contact a player at any other school until he has been released from that said school.

If he comes - fine. Maybe he can back up Hurd and Paulk, because those two committed to the University of Tennessee and are Butch's hand picks for the future. Personally I fail to see how a slower, 240 lbs. RB can excel in this offense. If he had good speed and reported at 225 lbs. he could help. Will see.

Agreed. Not everyone flourishes as a freshman. If he wants to come here, then I'm sure that Butch could make him into a productive RB. He and Hurd would be a sick combo in the backfield.

if he transferred, would he have to sit the year anyways? If so Green would run those 15 pounds off or Transfer again

Yes, he would have to sit out a year, or go the JUCO route. Regardless, he would come to a much more well-stocked RB group that would be very competitive. If he’s really that good, that wouldn’t be a problem (c.f. Alabama, Georgia).

Did you read the link I posted above? Here’s another one:

Michael Dyer Stats, News, Videos, Pictures, Bio - Louisville Cardinals - ESPN

44 rushes for 223 yards and 2 touchdowns. That’s his current production. But we have no idea what Green will do in an offense because Michigan simply doesn’t (for whatever reason) use him.

You might should compare the data we all had at the time being discussed.

Dyers freshmen stats at auburn are what needs to be looked at.

It will be very clear then

Player has to get the ball to shine. And the times Lane has carried the ball he looked pretty good to me. Hard runner that hits the hole and picks up additional yards after contact. Like several other guys pointed out, it worked pretty well for Montario Hardesty his senior year.

J Hurd says my time soon. Lol.

Didn't realize colleges use only one back these days. I expect Lane to get the 1st team carries and Hurd will spell him similar to what Lane is doing for Neal this year. I will say I expect Hurd and Lane to be more formidable than Lane and Neal.

I agree. I personally like Lane better than Neal. I'm really excited about our running game next year.

Lol, whatever man. So Dyer has a great freshman year, but does average at best in his comeback year. Yeah let's just ignore the facts.

Just as well, Green didn't do much as a freshman, but could very well turn out to be a good back.
