'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

Last yr everyone on here wanted this kid. Now y'all say he's basically not any good. Funny.

Last year he wasn't backing out of a commitment because he feels as if he doesn't get enough carries. I'm not saying he isn't a take if this blog has any weight to it. But it's not as cut and dry as it was when he was a high school kid picking a college.

Good point sanddune.

Lol, whatever man. So Dyer has a great freshman year, but does average at best in his comeback year. Yeah let's just ignore the facts.

Just as well, Green didn't do much as a freshman, but could very well turn out to be a good back.

You are the one that suggested wanting Dyer in the SUMMER meant that one also has to want green now.

Like I said its easy.

This summer there wasn't proof dyer had lost it.

There is some serious doubt this guy is too heavy to be Elite

Why do you guys want a Big Ten reject at RB? He's not a particularly tough runner either. What's special about Derrick Green as a RB? I sit back and listen......

For once, I agree with breakerboy. If he isn't good enough to break the starting line up at one school, why would we want him at UT??

I'd take him. Better than having walk ons taking up those schollies. Dave Lawson would whip him into shape. Lots of potential. This is a good way to get your 3rd back without taking up current class spot

He is a freshman. There are tons of backs playing in league that didn't sniff field their first two years of college. I'm not sayin he will be earl Campbell but calling him a bust already is laughable

If he decided to come to Tennessee, Would he not count toward the 85? Would that not mean 1 less take for this class?

Some guys can carry extra weight because it is long muscle and doesn't impact their stride. It looks that a lot of Green's is in his torso which would limit his agility. One cool thing in his HS vids was that he made a quick cut from the crease and accelerated quickly for a bigger back. If somebody got in the way that was going low for his legs he simply lowered his shoulder and bulldozed them. This size would probably keep him from doing much of that.

I didn't say if you wanted Dyer you HAD to want Green. I was calling a double standard on those who were willing to overlook gun and drug charges for Dyer, yet saying they don't want Green because he's a diva or "me" player. That's all.

Off the field issues I agree. The few post i saw didn't say off the field issues were the point of discussion.

My apologies

They must be included IMO.without them we wouldn't have even been discussing Dyer coming here. I didn't here anyone not wanting Dyer because he originally chose Auburn. But some don't want Green because he "had his chance", and chose Michigan. Lol.

If one doesn't think he's an elite back and wants to pass, I can respect that. But the other claims IMO are straight up sour grapes. I personally think he could be a good back if sharing the load with a dude like Hurd.

No need for appologies man, you good. Several 70+hr work weeks for me, so I'm probably not doing a good job of explaining myself, lol.

From a few years back i Remember Bullard having to count against the class number.

That's retarded. If you have an open spot, why couldn't you take transfers? It was possible that we were approaching the 85 limit when we got Bullard.

Good post.

I think his weight coupled with him being fairly unproductive this year leaves some serious worry that he might be a bust. That's why I would pass

Hope you get tomorrow off rich!

Some weird rule about being a counter if the kid is an underclassmen. Like I said I Am not sure but I think green would count against one years 25.

Chatt does a great job with rules maybe he will find it
