I think he will just miss out, the top ranked players must get alot of hype. ESPN flat out refused to talk about the #2. ranked class on their site all day. It's not to crazy to compare our class to ole miss from last year, but the difference to me is ole miss had 3 top prospects that made their class.
It's hard to find a LB with the speed Dillon has, that's why I think he could be a 5*, but I know he wasn't hyped up at all by espn so I think he stays a 4*

I saw Lorenzo Carter three times and these guys must be seeing something diff. I saw a kid with big potential but he's weak and he gets pushed around a lot. He needs about 30lbs if he's gonna play on the d line. Seems overrated.
Kipp Adams said Carter's fumble recovery was the best thing he had done all week.
He's all speed at this point. Lacks upper body strength. Ultimately, I think UGA lands him. He truly needs a RS year.
From TOS
6. LB Dillon Bates, Ponte Vedra (Fla.) Ponte Vedra
Bates was inconsistent at the last national event he attended, so it was nice to see him back to his old self in Florida. He was the most active linebacker on Team Nitro all week and was especially solid in coverage. Bates will only improve as he adds weight. As of now, though, he is better in coverage than he is against the run.

Laughable! He looked pretty good against the run, too. Made a big tackle on Rock for about a 3-4 yard loss. Had another good hit against Fournette. He got juked on the 4th and short in 1st half, but I think he was trying to make a play to stop the conversion, as well as not lose the edge. Nice to see for a change considering how horrible we have been at setting the edge the last 4 years. For the limited snaps he saw, I thought he looked good. Also, was it me, or was the "1st string" defense the unit that mainly was scored on?
The amount of love Carter gets in comparison to Bates from the services baffles me when any of the "deficiencies" Bates has are more pronounced in Carter's game. It may sound ridiculous to say this about a top 100 guy, but I really think Bates is under rated. He has all the potential to be an early impact guy, as well as having sky is the limit long-term potential. I honestly wouldn't trade Bates for another OLB in this class.
His lower body is definitely there. Look at those legs, even calves, compared to others. His upper body (chest mostly) is where the lighter weight is but that should be easy since all he needs to do is concentrate on a particular set of muscles to grow/add weight. Still he's got to be strong as an ox even without the extra weight there cuz he is a beast.
No homo of course.
The difference in Bates and Carter is physical. Carter looks the part of a big time DE, he has the measureables, he has the speed, he just doesn't have the talent and mental edge that goes with it.
Bates on the other hand is a LBer in a Strong Safety's body right now. He needs to add some weight. However, he has been coached up, had trainers, and knows the game better than most other players.
If you could combine Carter's physical stats with Bates' mental ability and work ethic, you'd have the #1 rated player in this class, #1 overall draft pick, and a Hall of Famer.
Bates will be good, great even. But, he's not physically imposing yet. Wait till he gets in our S&C program, he'll be awesome.
I don't think carter is that imposing either. Sure he's tall but 225-230lbs is not gonna get it done at 6'5 playing SDE in the SEC. He needs serious mass. He needs to add more mass than bates to be able to play his position. Bates needs 12-15lbs and Carter needs about 30-35. Lorenzo needs a RS.
Bates looks fine to me. He plays big and that is better than looking big. See Jacques Smith for example.
Bates cracked both Fortunette and Roc one 3 of the tackles and he came in hitting with some purpose. He will make an immediate impact if not start.
