I said right after the loss to Bamer, that we would NEED to win out or at least beat one of two...Mizzou and Auburn...to show these 5*guys like Garrett and Jackson that this program has indeed turned a corner, and they aren't just having to rely on promises. You sound a lot like Bruin with this opinion, yet aren't called a troll.
I mean no offense by that. I promise.

Losing all but one of those hurts those chances. That's just reality. Kids want to play on winning teams. Sure playing time means a lot, but it only gets you so far. Case in point Kiffin and Dooley could promise early playing time.
So, how is your point any different than what I just said? I never claimed CBJ couldn't recruit. Only that these last 3 losses hurt his sales pitch with the 5* guys on our list...like Garrett and Jackson.Losing those games and going 5-7 certainly didn't help, but Kiffin and Dooley weren't in the same recruiting stratosphere as CBJ. Kiffin landed a top 12 class that disintegrated. Dooley landed three classes between 11 and 21. Absent unexpected and significant defections, CBJ has a top five class. That is significantly better than his predecessors. Also, I think it is now clear UT had the most difficult schedule in the country. Oregon finished 10-2, Alabama finished 11-1, Auburn finished 11-1, Missouri finished 11-1, and USC finished 10-2. That list does not include playing UGA and UF when they were still relatively healthy and good. Beating USC was a big win the like of which eluded Dooley. I agree that Garrett and Jackson, etc., are hard to get when you go 5-7, but CBJ has shown he can recruit if nothing else.
