'14 JUCO DT Davonte Lambert (Auburn Commit 12/18/13)

Neibuhr has been reaching this whole time

He should have just kept his mouth shut. He's been all over the place. Two weeks ago Lambert was a lock to flip, then last week it was going to happen, then a few days ago he said he thinks he sticks with Tennessee and now he is saying he thinks Auburn again. I've noticed he's done this kind of stuff a lot recently with various prospects and in the end has been wrong on a number of occasions.

You know what's better than being a rotational backup?

Not being a rotational backup.

Auburn rotates so many DL that the "backup" term means very little. Carl Lawson is a "backup"...yet he's the one who made the critical 4th and 1 stop on TJ Yeldon in the fourth quarter against Alabama. Lambert would be in the regular playing rotation at Auburn next season. Why do you think Auburn is pushing so hard to recruit a JUCO with only 2 years of eligibility? If he wasn't needed then surely his spot would be better filled by a HS signee with 4 years of playing eligibility.

You guys talk as if he's going to just walk into UT, have a starting spot handed to him, and then casually waltz his way into the NFL whereas he wouldn't see the field at Auburn or something. If this kid is good enough to be an NFL draftee then he would play at Auburn just as he would at Tennessee.

We talk as if Auburn can stick it where the sun doesn't shine and UT is AWESOME! The other stuff is filler. GBO

All college programs steady rotate DL... even down to the NAIA level. Auburn is not special because of that

Difference is he would be a 3 down starter at UT. We lost our entire dline and have no one with his body type or ability to replace those losses.

At Auburn he's in a rotation.

Much better exposure at UT.

Yep. Much better situation for a JUCO with a small eligibility window. He could get some PT at Auburn and still be lost in the shuffle with all the players they have returning there.

Lambert is all VOL guys he tried to reassure everybody numerous times but no one would take the man at his word! He has gone silent and avoided reporters to keep from having to continue to pledge his commitment to the VOLS! The presser today is his moment of glory!

In the words of a OP,Keep calm and Brick on!

Fellow Tiger, with all due respect, you are on a Vol board and now is the not the time for presenting arguments. My advice, let's just report what we learn from AU sites and keep a low profile. Emotions are volatile enough.

I also think he'll be playing DT on passing downs giving him some versatility and good experience (like Malik) going into the draft. Doubt he gets that opportunity at Barn.

But exposure doesn't get you into the NFL. Talent does. If he has NFL talent; then he will start at Auburn and get the same exposure. Maybe not in his first year; but by his draft-year at the least.

Auburn isn't filled 3-deep with future NFL 1st round picks.
