'14 MD LB Jerome Dews (UT Commit 6/24)

:hi:

How's everything going? When does he start at prep school? Has he added any weight since fall?
Everything is cool, he got the ACT score he wanted, that was a big plus, he has been working out alot, got his grades up, he is about 205lb right now, lost a little weight running track, he is playing in the Big 33 game on June 14th in Hershey PA. and he departs that Mon. the 16th for Atlanta

Not sure about how Rivals does, but his Prep Coach is handling all of his affairs with schools, he just scored a 20 on the ACT so these other schools offering may have something to do with his ACT score. But as far as I'm concerned were moving along as planned with Tenn!

Are you or Jerome at all concerned that UT has recruited so many other pass rushers? By my count we signed 4 OLBs (Dillon Bates, Elliot Berry, Neiko Creamer and Chris Weatherd) and 4 DEs (Derrick Barnett, Joe Henderson, Dewayne Hendrix, and Jakob Johnson) in 2014, with two more DEs already committed in the class of 2015 (Andrew Butcher and Dylan Jackson).

Also, does Jerome have a recent 40 time or a time in the 100 meter dash? I'm curious given Jerome's impressive film and how a lack of team speed has been our defense's major weakness this entire decade.

Thanks MDObserver, I really appreciate your perspective.

He is being moved to SS, what he was told was 225llb

I doubt it.

He's gonna be a safety

Didn't see that before my post above. Same question, except with regards to the number of safeties we've recruited (Todd Kelly, Cortez McDowell, and Rashaun Gaudlen in 2014, and Stephen Griffin in 2015).
Thats is for him to deal with as far as the numbers, he has to understand the best players will play, so he has to work hard to earn time, you guys in Tenn are familiar with those guys you just named, so let the competition begin, he has to put in work when he gets his shot, i have no doubt that he will be prepared!

Thanks, MDO. Keep us informed when you get the opportunity. We want Jerome in orange and having a strong safety with his size and mobility would be fantastic IMO.

If Jerome fills out he would be a Bernard Pollard size safety. Safeties that size are a rare commodity in college football.
