I was already excited about Jerome coming to UT, but after reading the last couple of pages.......wow! Moving him to safety was a great idea and if he gst's to 225, watch out.

Thanks for the updates MDO. Looking forward to seeing Jerome in O & W (and possibly grey ).

If he gets to anywhere close to 225 watch out.

Thats is for him to deal with as far as the numbers, he has to understand the best players will play, so he has to work hard to earn time, you guys in Tenn are familiar with those guys you just named, so let the competition begin, he has to put in work when he gets his shot, i have no doubt that he will be prepared!

Anyone who feels that way is SEC-ready in mindset, imo. And honestly mindset is a huge portion of what goes into whether a player finds success in college and beyond. It's also critical for the safety position.

“I just got offered Saturday,” Dews told BadgerNation. “I'll be down there for an official visit. Coach Beatty called my coach and I guess they spoke and he told me. I was very excited. Right now I'm interested in Wisconsin, but I never been down there so I don't really know how much yet (laughter). I've gotten mail, but never really heard from them.”

Recruiting the 6-4, 200-pound Dews as a hybrid outside linebacker/strong safety, does Wisconsin have a chance to flip Dews on his official?

“Haha, no, I’ll have to wait it out,” said Dews.

“I'll be going to prep for five months than to report to Tennessee in January 2015 if I do not go elsewhere,” said Dews. “I am hearing from*UCLA,*Kansas State*and*West Virginia, plus I might take an official to UCLA or whoever hits me up.”

We were in with Dews on the ground floor long before anyone else even knew who he was...I remember a long thread on Gatorcountry.com where they basically made fun of us for offering a 2* player...Hopefully, Jerome knows that loyalty is a two way street and sticks with us. This would really sting to lose him.

Let the kid check out his options, I doubt any place else can stack up to Rocky Top.

I really want to see Jerome in Orange. Not sure it's a good idea for him to be taking other visits IF he is 100% sure UT's scholarship in 2015 is still on the table. I know some have said they could see him being passed on with the other kids who seem to favor UT this year. Hopefully it does not hurt his chances of being a Vol if he is taking other visits. IMO he needs to be careful.

We need his dad to come in and give us the scoop. Dews needs to be a Vol. CBJ has wanted Dews on this team for awhile now. I can't believe he is 6'4" 200 pounds. He could make a sick safety, and if he keeps on beefing up, you know he could be DE, DT,TE, and OT all in one game. Lol, but seriously, I already have him down as a Vol. Hopefully that doesn't change.

1. I think any recruit ought to have the right to visit other schools, even if he says he's committed. We live in an era where coaches can change schools or get fired suddenly without warning, so it would be irresponsible for a recruit not to at least have a contingency plan. Picking the right school is one of the most important decisions of a kid's life, so they're entitled to make a fully informed choice.

2. With respect to Dews, I'm growing skeptical he stays with Tennessee in light of his recent move to safety. Given how tight our scholarship numbers will be this class, I just don't see coach Jones saving a spot for a tweener-sized project who's transitioning from pass rusher to defensive back. Anybody who saw the Auburn or Oregon games knows we need to get faster at DB, not bigger.

I really liked Dews' production and potential as a defensive end, but I just don't think he'll ever see the field for UT as a safety. This may be an unpopular opinion, but I hope he and UT come to an amicable understanding that he might be a better fit at another school.
