Three-star athlete*Jerome Dews*of Potomac High School in Oxon Hill, Md., a former Tennessee commitment, announced Monday night that he officially has parted ways with the Vols.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Dews originally committed to Tennessee almost a year ago and planned to sign with the Vols as a member of the 2014 class. But he announced in February that he would be attending Atlanta Sports Academy this fall in hopes of signing with a four-year school in the 2015 class.

The decisions made now will impact him the rest of his life. I hope he's made the decision that gives him his best chance of success no matter what school it's with. Good luck to him and hope he is successful wherever he goes.

The very best to you MDO and Jerome and all your family. Hope everything works our for Jerome and he really needs to stay in school and get his degree for his future. Maybe things will work out for him and UT. I thought he'd be a good player for us.

I'll never understand why social media brings out the worst in some people. They used to say it was because of anonymity and I thought that might be it too but since FB commenting started being used on some websites nothing has changed -- posters using their real Facebook accounts (not just the fakes) are just as bad as they were when they had usernames that weren't linked to their real names. In some cases they're worse because sites don't bother moderating the FB comments (which I refuse to use).

As for twitter... it can be great to get quick information, share words of encouragement and so on but it also gives every idiot on the planet a chance to beat you down and with recruiting it gives fans an opportunity to show their you know what before they take 5 seconds to really think about things and even gives rival fans a chance to make another fanbase look bad. It can really be a cesspool in the hands of morons and unfortunately it seems this world has a lot of them.

I don't blame Momma Dews at all for being protective. My Momma would be ready to shoot a fool when I was his age! I just hope she understands that most of us like Jerome and really want him here. I'll be a fan wherever he goes (I still hope somehow it's here) and I hope you stick around no matter what happens.

Well that just sucks. Had high hopes for him and was looking forward to seeing him ball in the Big Orange.

The majority of us appreciate both you and your son, and only wish him the best regardless of where he ends up.

life is about adapting and hopefully everything works out for you guys.
I hate twitter and most of the people on it. Wish it wasn't around. It brings a new breed of cowards, so please pay them no mind.
