And they all get a bunch of carries because they are good. Ours are not so they don't get carries. It's pretty simple. Time to stop spinning your wheels on this issue...

We need more elite RBs

We have 1 stud newcomer that can play next fall along with lane.

Our opponents will spin it against us that since we only have played 2 this year that will be the case next year(not saying I believe that).

Not sure how that opinion has caused so much resistance.

Regardless I am out.

Hope we get this kid. We need him IMO

I think he will end up a Cock. They only have 1 fullback and no RB committed that I can see.

"It was great," Scott said. "It was loud and the fans supported the team and stayed the whole game and everybody was loud. It was a great atmosphere."

"What really stood out to me was the people that were there and the atmosphere, the way that Tennessee played and fought all the way through the game. Those were the main things that stood out to me," Scott offered.

"I think that the program is going nowhere but up," Scott said. "They've got a really bright future for that program and they're going to continue to do really big things."

The four-star all-purpose back doesn't have a plan for an announcement date and said he doesn't know when he'll decide or if he will use his final two official visits.

Taking OV to NCSU this weekend and then to USC on 11/16.

They didn't really recruit any other very much. Nick Chubb was interested in them, but they didn't go after him very hard because they have been Scott's leader since the beginning of his recruitment, and plus it was going to be hard to get Chubb away from UGA.

Putting all your eggs in one basket. You're either nieve, dumb, lazy, or overconfident. I'd love to pull Scott and have Spurrier feeling all salty.

You really don't think they'd put all their eggs in one basket if their coaches didn't have some feedback from him that indicated they were in great shape?

So the answer is nieve and overconfident, haha. I'm on record saying he will be a cock, just find it odd they aren't recruiting anyone else.

I don't think Spurrier has many years left in the tank.

What happens when Spurrier announces his retirement after this year?

No... I don't "know" anything except for his body language this year. He looks for the first time in the 20 years I've been watching him that he DOES NOT want to be the HBC of this team.

It could be Clowney and/or others on this particular team.... but he just doesn't act like a guy who is going to be around much longer.

At the most Spurrier would only be there two more years. He said when he left UF that a coach should never stay longer than 10 years at a school. I think he went to USCe in 2005.

Bama runs two backs watch our game(Drake and Yeldon). They've always been a two back team. Most good teams run only two. Unless you're LSU you don't see a lot of RBs. Especially with players being rhythm runners more times than not. The best go get their carries. If you're the best like you think you'll get carries. The pitch that's used and the one that'll always work for elite teams.

Agreed. He is a ..... He will be a ..., or is going to announce he is a ... Geez, tough to word properly... :ermm: Becoming a Vol solves this word conundrum.

Yeah the other guys pretty much only tote the rock when one of the 1st two guy is dinged up. Not sure where he was coming from.

I looked at the stats and you are completely right about Bama. Using them to explain my point was very wrong.

Here's what I did find that does make my point. We use our 3rd back less than any team in the SEC

Kentucky 53 carries
Missouri 53
Lsu 50
Ole miss 48
Georgia 47
Auburn 46
A&M 37
Vandy 32
Miss st 31
USCe 28
Florida 28
Arkansas 25
Bama 21
Tenn 21

Injuries do play a role but keep in mind smith didn't get a single carry when lane was out in the Georgia game.

Certainly talent plays a role so I also looked back at CBJ stats from last year to see what that told us. Only 48 carries all year for them at Cincy.

It's clear to me that other schools have plenty of stats to back up a negative recruiting sell job that we run a 2 RB system and we already have our guys in place for next year.

Yeah but most of these guys think that they can come in with other guys at their position and win out or at worst sit for a year or two until it's their turn to be the 2nd back their junior year and 1st back their senior year (like Eddie Lacy).

No doubt. I would say only a small % would be swayed by my suggestion. If all else is equal it might tip the scales IMO

I edited my previous post a bit to get across what I was trying to say a little better.

But I'm not saying that every back thinks the same way bc you're definitely right in that some guys do take that view point.

You do realize they have a numbers problem? Even to get to 15 there has to be attrition. They are at 14 now, and there are still needs on defense, and possibly the ol. They turned down Chris Lammons before he committed to UF. Any other year, he would have been a take. I guess it was Scott or not take a back at all.

You have to look at it from the perspective of an 18 year old High School Superstar. These kids are by far the best player in their district and sometimes the state or region. They believe they are the best in the country no matter what rivals, 247, etc. says. They all think they can come in and start day one. So if you are the coach of another team talking about how Tennessee only uses two running backs, those kids are probably thinking "If I go to Tennessee, I will only have to share carries with one other person..." Not "I am going to be number three on the depth chart and just get 20 or 30 carries..." Or at least if I am Butch, thats how I would spin it.

If we had a quality third back, they would get plenty of action. We've used a two back set many times with Neal and Lane. Having a quality third back would open this up more and create opportunities to get a guy like Scott in positions that maximize his skill set. PT wouldn't be an issue.
