I wonder if Paulk will be asked to Grayshirt, like Tino Thomas was? If you are coming off an injury like an ACL, and the team is in a numbers pinch, it only makes sense, IMHO. I'm not talking about him paying his own way in the fall...just not enrolling until Jan.

I see both sides of it. I understand it would help make room for another recruit, but then Paulk can't use the UT resources to aid in his rehab. IMO, the safe bet is to allow him to sign his LOI this NSD and hope he comes back strong from the injury. Don't risk losing him altogether being greedy and trying to sign another kid in his spot. I say this. Let Treyvon decide. List out some pros and cons of greyshirting.

Pros:
•You get to stay home a bit longer while rehabbing (he lives a few hrs away)
•You don't have to focus on anything but rehab (no school, kind of like an extended break).
•Gives his team an extra spot in this class
•We will definitely have him a spot for January.

Cons:
•He wouldn't be in school getting credits (some say pro, some say con to this one
•He wouldn't be using (UT) team facilities to rehab
•Won't be with his teammates

Might be missing a few, but there's an argument for wanting either way.

These are the worst arguments I can imagine for Cons. Totally laughable

I would differ though it is really tough to be "mean" to the kid like this. It isn't a safe bet to allow him to take up a spot in the class that could go to someone who provides immediate help at RB. Regardless of resources, it could take him 2 years or more to fully recover. Lane didn't really begin to run like many hoped he would until this year after injuring a knee in HS.

It isn't greed so much as need. The rest of the guys on the roster need help right away. The program always has to be bigger than the needs of one recruit or player. I truly hope it works out for this kid. I've liked him from the start and felt like he was going to be a really good RB. But the risks of using a scholarship on him without finding space for a 3rd RB is greater than that of losing him.

He is back on the recruiting board for UNC, and will visit them Thurs.

Are they considered a serious factor for him? How do people view Fedora over there? I know he won at Southern Miss but man did he leave that program is horrible shape when he jumped ship. I'd be really skepticcal about him going forward if I was a UNC fan.

I agree. He is a flash in the pan. Yet, many posters on here wanted him instead of Jones.

This guys looks good on his highlights. If he truly is on Jones' radar, yet, does not want to compete for a spot in the backfield, then good luck to him elsewhere.

I live in Charlotte a lot of pissed UNC fans but they still try to blame on it on the NCAA sanctions. I personally think the progam under him will be a sinking ship.

I just read in ESPN that Scott was blown away at the game with South Carolina this past week-end. They reported it was very close now between the Cocks and us. Would be a great pick up with our backs committed now having injuries.

No, I doubt UNC is a serious factor. I won't speak of Fedora as a person, but as a coach, I think he has too many gimmicks to sell the program. He reminds of Kiffin without the public trash talk. Fedora takes helicopter rides to recruit's games, has the players dancing at camps, wants to appeal to the youth of the recruits, etc. However, appealing to the youth means overlooking discipline sometimes. I know when Fedora left Southern Miss, Southern Miss hired the Gamecock's DC as head coach. The players left there clashed with Johnson because they didn't like his discipline. Johnson had turned South Carolina into one of the top defensive units in the country, although they didn't always get the top recruits. Johnson is now at Auburn and turning their defense around. South Carolina, in the meantime, had hired the dl coach from UNC under Fedora when Lawing left for UF, and South Carolina's defense is not what it was. Was it the new coach's fault? All I know is that his philosophy is different from Lawing's and Spurrier had to get onto the defense which he has not done before. They are playing better now, though.

I have no clue who Elliot is.....but that Ellis Johnson is one hell of a DC imo.

Sorry I haven't had much sleep in the last 24 hours. I can't believe I confused his name with Sean Elliot. I know who both of them are! It must of been because I was reading a message board topic on Elliot, and whether he will be USC's new coach when Spurrier retires in three or four years(maybe). He might stay around forever.

Scott is electric. Not many kids go in and out of cuts like that without losing speed. But James is very good in his own righht. Gotta get one of them.
