As of right now, he is a Vandy lean (as much as it pains me to write this), and a lot of that has to do with his and his mother's relationship with Franklin.

I know that he had a great time with the guys this weekend. He enjoyed everything, and he and his mother got a chance to learn more about the staff, academics, etc.

So, while I believe that we certainly made up some ground, he's certainly no lock or silent commit. I'm just hoping that the impression that was made will eventually sway him our way.

I will be one to admit that the info I received about him going public and committing this weekend was wrong but I have reason to believe he left here a Vol and probably has been a Vol for awhile. Sorry guys if it was a little off but none the less the boomage will happen soon enough. Like I said kids do crazy things sometimes.

sorry posters burned you on this one. Vol74 seems to be tight with Jalen and since he is a big recruiter for this class, sounds like your information and his are probably accurate.

If he wants to stay at home and play for Vandy go ahead.

We will prevail.

Also, and this is pure speculation on my part, I'm thinking that it is very possible that Derek has already let the staff know of his commitment as others have stated because when I asked why Derek would delay his announcement if he already knew I was told that Butch wanted to space some of the announcements out and didn't want more than one per day.

This sounds like Barnett is a sure thing for the Vols. If his mom and Derek like Tennessee that much we should be getting a commitment soon.

Thanks for the info. As much as people want to use the "silent" idea with all these kids, it's just not the case. If a kid is a silent and is still taking trips, at best he is holding a spot in case he does not find something better. That is not a silent commitment to me.

I can promise you this, Butch is going to have these players fired up for the Vandy game. I don't think its going to be pretty for the anchor. A lot of frustration and hate now for that team and looks like Vandy will get the sledge hammer. If Barnett and Sawyers and Jelks want to be a part of that, have fun!
