Stripling gonna do work fellas, I'm tellin ya. We've been fortunate to have some fine DL coaches at UT. Heck, even thru these down years we've had Chuck Smith, Ed Orgeron, and John Parlermo. The talent hasn't been the best, but them dudes can coach. Stripling IMO is gonna continue the great tradition for DL at UT.

So wait. Some of y'all are saying "next" because he's a Vandy lean? You serious?

That's absurd.

You know what's more absurd? Being a top tier talent and choosing to play football at Vandy over UT. It literally makes me laugh just thinking about such a decision.

But if a kid makes that choice, good luck to him and we move on. Plenty of other talented FB players waiting in line to be Vols. So yeah, next...

Hopefully it's just a smokescreen and he'll be choosing UT. Either way, we'll be fine.

The only way he goes Vandy is if he and Franklin really "hit it off" :whistling:

The only reason I could imagine a recruit picking Vandy over UT would be for academics, and those are few and far between. And with that said, I'm beginning to wonder how kids like Kimbrow even made it in to Vanderbilt...

I'm not offended by any of this honestly. I think Barnett being a Vandy lean makes this a fun recruitment.

My guess is Franklin is telling him lies about what the beatdown they gave us last fall means about the long trajectory of our respective programs. Truth is, there's a good chance Vandy's bowl hopes will be hanging by a thread when they roll into Knoxville this fall. Once we blow them off the field in front of 100,000 screaming Volunteers, Barnett's mind will be made up. Can't wait.

I don't understand why the "insider" situation follows the exact same script over and over again. Just seems like folks would take info with a grain of salt.

It amazes me what Franklin is feeding them.

There is no rebuilding. Nothing has ever been built.

There is no "DLU" on account that there is no history of ever having a relevant DL or pipeline to the NFL.

"Anchor down" makes zero sense.

They will never beat UGA or Florida. They haven't even beaten a team above .500 yet.

There is no turning the program around. There is no great reckoning.

because we know who Vol74 is and he has yet to be wrong

I really appreciate his contributions and hope he continues to provide them. But he will fail at some point. They all do. Since we know that already, we ought to enjoy what he says, but take it with a grain of salt.

Derek loved the visit this weekend and so did his mom. His coach expects him to announce soon as in this week or next at the latest. That's the update I received this morning.

Also, and this is pure speculation on my part, I'm thinking that it is very possible that Derek has already let the staff know of his commitment as others have stated because when I asked why Derek would delay his announcement if he already knew I was told that Butch wanted to space some of the announcements out and didn't want more than one per day.

Why is everyone dismissing this post in lieu of the negative?

BOT told us all to watch twitter on Gaulden 6 hours before he committed via twitter and Gaulden and Barnett are very close.

If he has info on Barnett, there is no reason to assume it is not legit.

As of right now, he is a Vandy lean (as much as it pains me to write this), and a lot of that has to do with his and his mother's relationship with Franklin.

I know that he had a great time with the guys this weekend. He enjoyed everything, and he and his mother got a chance to learn more about the staff, academics, etc.

So, while I believe that we certainly made up some ground, he's certainly no lock or silent commit. I'm just hoping that the impression that was made will eventually sway him our way.

This is completely incorrect according to his BA coaches. I know you have great sources but this is not what he has told his coaches one of whom he confides in about everything.

Can you tell us your source. We know Vol74's is Hurd.

Yes I will. My source comes from the booster side of things. His last name is Fannon and I do not want to reveal the first name because he is a close friend of the family. He hangs around the program quite a bit. He is at the practices heck was even at foundation week. He talks to the coaches as well. I have nothing to hide and only give what I get and will continue to do so. I do not care to eat crow if need be but I just dont think I will in this case

I thought he wasn't announcing until August?

You guys are all forgetting, Hubbs and PFort have both consistently said the Vols lead for weeks now. I'll roll with them until they say otherwise.

Having been a member of Volquest for over 12 years, I can't picture anyone more reluctant than Brent when it comes to acknowledging that UT leads for a recruit. He just doesn't like to put his neck on the line. That is, of course, unless he has strong assurances from the recruit or multiple folks close to him.

With that said, if Brent feels good about where we are with Barnett, I tend to believe the Vols are in good shape with him.

This post is as accurate as it comes.

Well you need to talk to Mr. R. Fannon and tell him we need some solid, concrete info on which DTs we are getting. What day the Berry twins will commit, and a timeline for Hendrix. I don't ask much, but this is needed pronto. :)
