You think I'm concerned about Volnation cred? Or better yet, you think I "need" Volnation cred? I like to discuss recruiting on here just like anyone else does. People share their opinions on here daily. If you don't like my opinions or what I bring to the board, then piss off.

Get over yourself. I was walking to a friends house and asked the guy a question. I wasn't there "reporting." What the hell is wrong with that? Nothing. I have spoken to plenty of recruits on campus and rarely put their business on blast, UNLESS a situation like this comes along where one of them tells me something that is completely opposite of what we're thinking, or what has been said. That's the reason I posted it.

If I came here preaching good news, or if I would have asked him if he liked UT and he answered "yes" and etc you all would be singing praises.

Bring good news= VN is happy

Bring bad news=you're a creepy old man who stalks kids and is spreading vicious lies.

Only news= (most of) VN over reacts to everything.

I agree somewhat, but again I asked him a casual question.. no more casual then asking Robert Downey where he get's his suits dry cleaned. He could have said "eff off man I don't wanna talk about it." Instead he elaborately painted me a picture with beautiful words praising Vanderbilt and how awesome of a job Franklin is doing.

Again, I want him as bad as you all, but take your orange tinted glasses off, take a step back, and analyze what I said again. It isn't good. That, or again he's a major a$$(whole) who got a kick out of telling a complete lie or sandbagging me for no apparent reason. Hmm.. I wonder which one it is?

Exactly. No cred needed here. Just a Vol fan who would tell his fellow fans info especially if it contradicted all other info we've heard. If he would have said he loved UT I would have posted just that and nothing else would have been said about it.

"Sorry man, I just saw this. Last night was the text that I posted. I spoke with coach today. He said that Derek had an absolute blast this weekend. He is tight with Rashaan and several other commits. Coach said they had 3 point shooting contest, played putt-putt and just a bunch of other fun things. He said Derek had a ball. The most important thing was that his mom got there late Saturday. She is being fed the vandy kool-aid about their education, etc. and wanted to learn more about UT and the academic side of things. Coach said that is where we really shined this weekend and she left feeling very good about that side of things. Derek will play football and attend school where he wants to (UT) but if his mom is all in, that will make it even better. She has always liked Butch and Elder but just wanted more reassurance on the academic side. He thinks we are in GREAT shape for Derek but thinks it will be August before he commits. They leave on Sunday for team camp and he doesn't think he will do anything this week so that puts us into August. That's pretty much it."

Sounds good. I know so few make it to the NFL, but you don't sign with a top 10 program of all time if you don't think that school can get you there. Really hope we can sway Derek, and his mom. There is no "next" on this type recruit, at this position if need. You trudge on come hell or high water until you get that commit.

It seems obvious that he would pick the team with the greater pro potential. As for academics, college is what you make of it. Majoring in subjects like political science, journalism, English, etc., won't really help someone land a job. I know VU and Sewanee grads in that situation. I studied at UT, however, and it led to my doctorate.

Agree but gotta say...a wrestling fan with a doctorate just doesn't seem right.
