'14 TN OL/DL Charles Mosley (UT Signee 2/5/14)

Charles must kick it with OrangeHammer. Quick someone create a time machine so we can remove from boom age stage back to blue balls stage

My issue with our recruitment of DTs is we are in need of an infusion of young talent as well as experienced guys. Too many JuCo DTs and we are right back where we are now in two years. Neck if one of these Jucos has a monster yr he could be one and done.

We need Mosley, and IMO another HS DT.

I'm actually pretty amused. I'm fine with him having a laugh at how reactionary we are. I hope he commits for real though. Can't get enough big guys on the line.

I think the staff is hoping for Salsberry (RSJR next year), or O'Brien (RSSoph) to emerge and break out. I agree that an influx of JUCO's aren't the long term fix.

I looked at the commits and saw we have no true Freshmen recruits committed. Hendrix, Henderson, Barnett, Mixon etc are all DE. Moseley is the only one, and he's not committed. This continues to be our Achilles Heal.

2 of those(mixon and barnett) are very likely DTs very quickly in their career.

It is apparent to me this staff is going to recruit 2:1 DE:DT and let some kids grow into DTs

If Charles wants to be a Vol the door is open. There will be a great deal of work to do to get him ready, but he will have a couple of seasons to prepare. In the more recent past that has been the issue - throwing guys into the fray that were not ready. With Saulsberry, O'Brien, and Clark they have the position covered for a couple of years. As Jason Carr develops he could play the 3 technique. Add in the recruits whose bodies will undoubtedly change.

Charles is a 1 technique guy at DT day one until his body gets in shape and then he may also can go 3. If it doesn't work out he is an OG. Win-win IMO.

We can trade in what Butch Jones has done and replace it with Dooley's efforts? Would you be happier with that?

It would be nice to have room for another HS DT but the staff knows it needs to win now and having to replace so many DL it only makes sense to go JUCO heavy this class, especially with EE's.

Barnett and Cory Thomas likely grow into DT's both are already 270+. Carr and Vickers (who the staff has added weight to end up a DT) are redshirting. So if you look at it like that there will be 5 freshman DT's on campus if they add Mosley.

With so many DE's in the last two classes I'm betting they go HS DT heavy in '15 class.

I agree 100% with Ron on how Butch will go at the DT in the future.

We should know something soon about what the future holds for UT and Big Charles Mosley.

I agree, but Mosely could help out more than just with his presence in this class:

Two targets that are definitely still coveted in Knoxville are Top247 defensive end Derek Barnett (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood Academy) and Top247 lineman Charles Mosley (Brighton, Tenn./Brighton). One thing to note about Mosley is that it appears that whichever school adds the 6-5, 345-pound prospect will also have the inside track to add 2015 Top247 offensive lineman Drew Richmond (Memphis, Tenn./Memphis University School).

-247

Very interesting note

Its pretty a matter of when Mosely will commit to UT, Bama was the only other team in the mix and they have taken another NG and are looking at some other DLs. early congrats.
