This is a good post. There's several on here who think they know all but really don't know ish......

Thanks. Some have bought into the local talent is not as good lie. Yet they can't look out on the field at Neyland on game day each week and see we have next to nothing returning kicks/punts and catching balls out of the slot.

Not to put you on the spot, but you have to admit: you would prefer Hawkins to Young, wouldn't you?

Honestly, if they were both in '12, then yes. This year, however, assuming we get Malone we are done at WR. Wharton is similar imo. I guess time will tell though. You may very well be right. Hawkins can ball no doubt

It's going to be a shame if we let Hawkins go, and that's the last I'll speak about it tonight. Don't mean to blow up too many threads tonight about it. Just frustrating that we may very well let him go.

True. Malone is a great returner. I just wonder how much we'll be willing to put him in a return role, a'la North this year.

Fulton's defensive front 7 is rather impressive. Man they are physical.

Do you not need to get the ball past the goal line in TN high school? That Greenville kid was at least a foot from getting the ball over the goal line. Might have scored on the next down, but still. Another poor call against Fulton. I believe I could be a high school ref, and that's saying something.

How big is Hawkins? He looks smaller, but I guess anyone would standing next to that line.

I tell you another thing, Tate from Fulton might just be someone to watch. A sophomore. But he runs like Hurd. I'm sure he's not as big, but runs like it. Keep an eye on him.

Blue shirt this dude. He definitely can ball. Has the speed we need and looks to have excellent hands and slick with the ball in his hands.

Hawkins has scored 20 TDs on just 40 catches & 6 more TDs on only 26 rushes, averaging over 19 yards per carry.

This will probably get lost in the Malone, Jackson, Mosley excitement/anticipation today, but Hyams said on the Sports Animal that Butch and staff are seriously looking at the Fulton gang as preferred walk-ons. Sounded like the priority was Hawkins, but he also mentioned Rollins-Davis and Cooperwood as well. Said the thinking was that Butch would try to get them on as preferred walk-ons and that the Hope scholarship could potentially cover all their educational expenses (may have been some other aid as well).

I really hope we can work this out with all these guys. Good depth, and I really believe Hawkins is a scholarship-worthy returner/slot. I understand our recruiting this year as been so successful though, that numbers have been limited.

Thanks for posting! To me, this is what separates good programs from championship ones, especially in the SEC. Being able to take guys that are certainly worthy of D1 scholarships elsewhere and adding them to an already ridiculous recruiting class. We need guys like this on our roster period, but not at the expense of a scholarship this particular cycle IMO.
