Swafford 2.0? If we could get him as a preferred walk-on, absolutely! Give him a scholly as soon as one opens up, if he's able to contribute on the field.
After further review...he could be the ideal candidate for a Blueshirt. Those are rare, but it seems to me, he'd fit the criteria perfectly. Better than a preferred walkon offer. It's essentially a loophole to get him on scholarship this fall, but only count toward next year's class. He'd have to walk on, during the summer session, but given a scholarship at the start of fall camp. Can't have "recruited" him...as in OV's or in home visits, but this is pretty much the situation currently.
I might believe you, but only if you name some names.
I totally agree, I would take Hawkins over 2-3 skill guys coming in
Wharton
Pearson
Malone
Hurd
Paulk
Berry
Gaulden
Payne
Moseley
Kelly
McDowell
You are a fool if you would take this kid over any of those players. The only "project" is Moseley, and his is bigger and faster than anyone on Fulton, plus he is an EE.
I personally am 100% buying into the Hawkins & Rollins hype. I hope Butch Jones & UT's staff put the full-court press on both.
UT has really cashed in big on local, Knoxville HS prospects the last couple of years. Tyler Maples, Blake Garretson, Dustin Lindsey, Lee Smith, Anthony Anderson, Josh Hawkins, Rae Sykes, Dennis Rogan, Daniel Hood, Kyler Kerbyson, Devrin Young, Cody Blanc, George Bullock, Malik Foreman, Josh Smith, and I'm sure I'm forgetting others. That is 15+ STUD prospects out of the Knoxville area just in the last 5-10 years.
Not to mention, Randall Cobb played at Alcoa HS and now plays in the NFL, therefore I'm of the opinion UT should continue to recruit tons of the local players. With that ideology instilled, UT football will reach the top of the college football world very soon. GBO!
