I'm excited about this guy he's going to be a true freshman with an extra year to get bigger and stronger without it affecting his years of eligibility whatsoever. And he was already a very solid prospect coming out of HS who had a good offer list, and he was committed to a team who has been successful at putting D-linemen in the league.

Just watched his highlights again and him being an EE is huge as he should come in and contribute immediately next year!

“it’s all tennessee for me, and i don’t plan on going nowhere. I’m not really looking forward to talking to anybody else,” he said. “i’m just happy that everything is clear with the clearinghouse, the ncaa. I’m just happy everything is good and it’s almost time to leave. “(i like) the coaches and just the tradition (at tennessee). I still feel like coach (butch) jones is going to change this program around. They’re going to get back to the ’98 tennessee, and i feel like it’s coming pretty soon.”

“they were telling me that me being able to come in early is a really big deal for them, because they need the depth and need people to learn the system as quick as possible. Being able to get a spring (practice), you can’t ask for more,” mixon said. “they were just telling me i’m going to be one of their guys, and i’ve just got to come in prepared. Me grayshirting (this year) and sitting at home for a semester made me mature a little more, and coach was saying that he liked that. He knows that i’m going to be one of those guys that’s ready to come to play.”



“they said, as of right now, they like where my weight is, because i can withstand the run and also pass rush because i’m not too heavy, (but) i’m not too light,” he said. “i feel like i’ve been doing pretty well in the weight room. I’ve just got to make sure i’m in playing shape for when i get down there.”

It's encouraging that he has stayed in shape. Not football (conditioning) shape, maybe, but there are 9+ months to get there.

Committed to Nebrasks in 2013 cycle. Didn't qualify. Gray shirted last year. Went back through the recruiting process again this year.

That is also why he is not rated on rivals.

yeh he had some good offers for sure. Mizzou,Auburn, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Baylor, Arizona State, Nebraska, etc. im pretty excited about this kid.

Hope so. I always worry about a guy sitting out football for a year without being in college program being able to make immediate impact. I do think he has a chance just because he is an EE. That gives him a semester to knock the rust off.

i agree with you but he essentially is a GS and hes an EE. the kid has like 9 months. he will be fine.

I think this guy will make a push for the SDE rotation this year. Seem like he's the over looked recruit

I agree I don't think he gets talked about enough. He may have an advantage over Hendrix with him being an EE, but Hendrix can play weak side DE as well IMO.

I agree I think we will be able to go about 12 deep this year on the dline such will keep our guys fresh, and I think we wi be able to mix our combinations as well. I think collectively our dline will be a better unit this year than last year.

After watching this kid on film I'm pretty impressed. Looks quick and explosive. Fundamentally sound. Sleeper IMO
