Idk the NCAA or SEC rules in detail. It sounds like there may be an SEC rule or policy against transfering within the SEC and that a precedent has been set (Maurice Smith' case) in overriding it for grad transfers.I thought grad transfers could transfer where they please?? I call shenanigans on this one.
We'd heard rumblings on this yesterday but was unable to confirm since we never got in touch with Kennedy. Saban did the same thing with Mo Smith but lost the appeal and the defensive back transferred to Georgia.
Here's what Nick said at the SEC spring meetings last year: "I've never been in favor of free agency in our league. I don't think I'll ever be for it. I mean, why should guys leave your team and go play for somebody else and you have to play against them. I don't think that's fair."
I have mixed feelings on it. I do think the player's best interests are important. On the other hand, a school invests a lot of $ and time in developing a player. Even if he's not a starter, he may be important depth on the team. He also knows your playbook, schemes and strategies well. Is it fair to the school and his former teammates for him to just walk out and suit-up for a competitor or rival on your schedule? Again, I think arguments on both sides of the issue have merit. Tough call, imo.Same here. Undergrads, sure. But graduates put their time in. They should be able to go wherever they want.

Butch was terminated, but otherwise I do get your point with those good questions.Should we stop Pruitt from taking the Tennessee job? Should we stop Saban from hiring Butch or Bob Welton? Those guys know the playbooks, schemes, and strategies, too.
The kid put in his time, let him go...
Schools are going to start delaying kids from graduating. Already happening at smaller schools I am sure

I dont see how they can control that especially when it's only guys not playing that leave big schools anyway. I can see the small school side of it but not sure how fair that is to the kids willing to work for it and that want their degree before NFL
