It's not a lie *IF* you believed it at the time, and if it was contingent on things that are no longer true. Not to mention, Butch could have spoken with Dormady and JJ.

I'd bet Riley Ferguson thought he was lied to, no matter how you want to twist it. IMO that's partly why he never materialized at UT. He just never bought in and or trusted the staff after what happened on NSD.

If that didn't happen, we wouldn't have Dobbs. Peterman would have been our QB this year after Worley and we wouldn't be going bowling this year. Next year's outlook would be bleak.

Or Riley Ferguson would have bought in and been the starter? Hard to say what would have happened if RF was taken as "the guy" he was told he would be.

It may not be a lie but it is going back on one's word. If things change is it OK to decide not to pay a loan back?

Again, how would you have felt if one if the commits had decided to flip to another team. There are some schools with much better recent success than the Vols that courted these guys.

That's using hindsight to justify a wrong. That doesn't fly if one is interest in being highly regarded in the integrity arena.

I am confident these two guys were told they were to be the two. I still think it is wrong to go after another guy right before two commits are too move on campus.

QD and JJ have done everything right. CBJ is 100% in the wrong here for even opening the door. As much of a UT fan as I am, it's ordeals like this where I don't really care if UT gets burned. Say Jones commits. It would not bother me at all to see QD& JJ bounce. Maybe CBJ needs to be taught a bit of a lesson and shown that while recruiting is shady as it is, there are situations where doing the right thing is what's important.

Ok let's be honest butch jones's job is to bring In the best talent he can find correct? Sometimes you got to let people go an fill there spot with better players!!!!! If this guy is better than one of the two we have committed... And he wants to commit sorry but BYE... If he can get all three then he's earning his money!!!!

So you think you know more about evaluating talent than the coaching staff? Obviously you do. Why don't you just admit that you have no clue what CBJ is doing and just sit back and enjoy the ride? You have little to no clue what you're talking about.

How do you know CBJ and the staff doesn't think Jones is much better than either QD or JJ? You don't.

I'm right at times. I am wrong at times. With recruiting, that's going to be the case. I didn't know anything when I was the only one on the board saying TG was garbage. "LV you a fool"! Well, maybe not. :thumbsup:

Butch is doing what any top coach is supposed to do. Bring in the best talent. It is a dance and if he gets burned doing it then question it then. Until then accept that it is the recruiting game and let it unfold.

Maybe CBJ should have done it earlier? Why wait till a matter of weeks before EEs are in? Is he doing it on purpose? Wait till the guys either just sign and deal with it or leaves them hanging out to dry where their options are really affected by the timeline. Do they choose not to EE now so they have time to look around? Or is that all part of the plan? Figure in the dead periods coming up and IMO it's shady as it gets.

It already played out IMO. When CBJ made the in home visit to Jones he was in the wrong. IMO that's all I needed to see on this one. I didn't need to wait and see what happened. Even if Jones is not a Vol, CBJ is 100% wrong.
