'15 CA QB Sheriron Jones (UT Signee 2/4/15)

Drew Richmond was committed to another school. Sure did not stop CBJ and company from continuing to recruit him. IMO it's the timing of this that makes it look obviously shady. The staff waited will it's almost too late for QD & JJ to do something else unless they want to just start over.

CBJ pulled the same thing when he snuck Dobbs in with the 2013 class.

I suppose future QBs especially should be paying attention.

Are you really blaming CBJ for adding Dobbs to the 2013 class? If so, you've lost it. Ferguson apparently couldn't handle competition and so he's gone even though he was allegedly ahead of Dobbs on the depth chart. Without CBJ "sneaking" Dobbs into the class, we would've gone 4-8 or worse after Worley got hurt. I, for one, am glad CBJ snuck Dobbs in.

For the record, I'm not sure that I'm excited about adding Sheriron Jones at this time. I think Dormady and Jennings are a very solid haul and I would prefer to use the spot on an OT or LB or S. That said, if CBJ thinks Jones is much, much better than either of the current commitments, he has to take the risk and add the player that gives him the best chance to win a national title. College football is a big business and you either win or you get fired. So, CBJ will do what he has to do and the recruits will either respond favorably to the competition or transfer and every program loses players to transfers regardless of their ethics. CBJ is building a competitive program and the players either like it or can leave it.

He didn't "sneak" anyone in to the 2013 class. He was on the job for two months and was scrambling to put that class together. Of course if he hadn't added Dobbs, we would have had Peterman and a walk on after Worley went out. That would have worked out well.

I'd bet Riley Ferguson and his parents would tell you Dobbs was "snuck in".

With the players who have left since CBJ stepped in, and with the GFW update in the Bussey thread, it appears that a lot of the kids are taking your advice and they are actually leaving it vs liking it.

These players have to know that competition is part of the game. The better player will play, and at a school like Tennessee, in this offensive system, you'll get your opportunity.

So youre just in the habit of throwing a tantrum based on the word of people in another state that you've never met? If Ferg really thought he was betrayed, he should have kept his grades up so that another school would accept him.

Goes to show that players should be less focused on whose being "snuck" in and more focused on taking care of their own business. If it really bothered him that much then he wasn't going to make it as an SEC QB anyway.

Of course there is competition. There are 1-2 QBs taken in every class usually. The difference here IMO is most QBs would not choose to be part of a 3 QB class and IMO they have the right to know that IF that is a coaches plan. In this case, it clearly looks like they were lied to.

Maybe Jones commits and QD& JJ decide to hold off on EE so they can consider their options. IMO, it may not be a bad move.

It's my opinion that is exactly why RF never bought in 100% to UT once he arrived to campus. He never did really trust the staff after that. Had CBJ pulled the Dobbs move a coupe weeks earlier, RF would not have signed as a Vol IMO. He was never happy at UT once it all shook out.

That's fine you're entitled to your opinion, but do you actually have any info to support this?

I think that RF felt entitled to the job and did not want to compete for it. I am glad CBJ got Dobbs in here. Now, I do hope we keep both JJ and QD, but I am not going to subscribe to your conspiracy theory Leb.

I don't know, but a lot of analysts who evaluate players for a living do. Film between the 2 is clearly different to me. I think most agree that Jones is better Leb. Pretty simple conclusion, you take the best players possible to win. The staff probably didn't keep pursuing Jones bc he was committed to another school. Recruiting changes daily and at the end of the day coaches have to get the best players.

In the video you refer to, is the difference in the QBs' highlights the supporting casts or the QBs?

The staff told RF they were going after another QB.

Is it a tantrum when someone disagrees? If so, this entire forum is full of tantrums.

Funny how many, not most, would cry and whine if and when a kid flips to another school but it's OK to screw the kids at the last minute.

I hope Jones knows that olat least one of the commits is shopping around and that is why he is doing what he is. Otherwise, my opinion of Jones is going to take major drop.

Now you're going to get all worked up and then you won't be able to make my fries the way I like them.

Not if you read Ferguson's quotes on NSD. He said he and his parents were VERY surprised that UT took another QB. He said he had been told all along he would be the only 1 taken. Had he known they were taking another, he said he would have taken his late bama offer much more serious.

He's taking it to another level making it personal about the staffs character. Hes entitled to his opinion but I think its way overboard to throw some of this rhetoric bout there with such little evidence. That's just my opinion.

Expecting the coach to operate with trust, integrity and good character is not going overboard.

Is your daughter having to perform and provide services to get those expenses covered by the school?

He's not the one who said it was free. We recognize the players provide a service. But 100k is probably being conservative. Once again, its not like they're being abused.
