Inquiring minds want to know: the reasons why pull a 4 star? I do not generally follow recruiting..oops missed the link..but still we have better in the wings?????

Scout's analyst for that area is good friends with his HS school. The analyst is called Corey Bender (kind of unfortunate name). He said the coach told him it was definitely a situation where he was told to look around. He also said Marques has a 4.3 GPA, so it is not academics.

All the big time programs may do it, but it doesn't make it right. Imagine the meltdown on this board if come NSD KMac flipped to UF or Bama. People would lose their freakin' minds. But put the shoe on the other foot where it's the coaches backing off their word and people want to jump to their defense and say it's perfectly okay.

I get this is recruiting and shiz like this happens. I'm not going to meltdown over it. I'm not calling for anyone's head. But damn, right is right and wrong is wrong. This kid did everything right, and now we're doing him wrong. Let's just call it for what it is and not make excuses.

We need OL and if we have a top OL wanting to get on board, we need them worse than a DE

We have Butcher and Phillips, who are both better than Ford(hindsight: probably turn out be an AA with our luck)

In a Tennessean article, Ford's coach says that Marques is "angry". (understandably so)

Interestingly, the coach did mention that despite recruiting being a dirty business, Tennessee stayed honest in saying they "had other commits" and had to pull Marques' commitment.

We're getting relatively deep at DE. To me, this signals we have some good news coming pretty soon regarding another RB or OL recruit.


This happens everywhere, but I still hate it for Ford and any other kid that has to be dropped from their dream school. Hopefully it motivates him, and I'm sure he'll be a great player. Best of luck to the big guy.

My first two thoughts are that we are making room for a bigger name or he is bad news...I have nothing to substantiate these thoughts...simply my initial reaction

Hopefully, because Butch knows we are about to land an OT or two. I know that Sapp is very, very high on our board. We will make a spot for him at all cost. Seams we want a RB too. Personally, I wouldn't have pulled Ford's offer. I could think of 3-4 other guys I'd pulled offers from before I pulled Ford's, but that's just me.

VN is slipping - haven't seen anyone ask what it means for our class rank.

Hate it for the kid, wonder if Taylor's affirmation played a part here. Really like both of those guys.

Well what Butch did was wrong on the outside looking in but we don't know what goes on behind closed doors. I wish we could've kept him but that's just not the case. I also love the hate we are getting from teams that can't even get visits from players of Fords caliber. (vandy cough*)

This isn't little league where everyone gets a trophy. You want to play with the big boys and be the best, this is what you have todo.
