'15 FL DE Marques Ford (FORMER UT commit)

2 weeks before NSD and after having been committed for months even more so.

You don't offer a 4* recruit a greyshirt, that's a insult!

Big-time programs do. Bama has numerous times...Kwon Alexander comes to mind. They even got a 3-4 star QB to walk on 2 years ago (Jack Del Rio's son). This is where we are getting back to as a program, and it's a great feeling, not that I want a kid to end up on the short stick. However, prospects like Ford will have plenty of options in a short amount of time. He probably could have waited a little longer and got serious interest from better programs than Rutgers.

I think most on here understand that sometimes such decisions have to be made. However, I'd like the staff to give these kids more than 2 weeks. I think that this situation could've been avoided with little downside for UT (ie, cut him loose around Christmas and chase the guys you're chasing). I'd rather be one recruit short in the class than take the negative hit to the image

I have no problem with it. If you don't want the negative pub, don't ask for it. Jmo

I have no problem with the negative pub, rip us if you want. Just get our coaches name right, he's earned that much. Don't think that's too much to ask of a "journalist"

Ignoring LV has improved my VolNation experience immeasurably --- and many more people ignore him because he doesn't get quoted as much. Every so often, though, he manages to impose his will on a thread. He still has that Bruin-like ability. And all he's really doing is whining about Butch's moral/ethical fiber. He throws a line into the water and people bite. Amazing.

What's funny is schools like Rutgers think this is some kind of victory. We let him go and no other big time school wanted him.

I don't think he was interested in playing the game any more. He didn't give other schools a chance to get in it. Rutgers was a school he really liked when he picked UT. When UT dumped him, he turned quickly to a school he knew and trusted. Jmo

It was a victory for Marques and Rutgers. He gets a better education than he would have originally and they get a high talent player. Good for him. It's not like he will have trouble getting into the league if he's good enough.

Better education? Is Rutgers known for their academics?

He's the best player in their class this year IMO. Really wish we could have made room for him, he's got so much potential and is pretty much a year younger than everyone in the '15 class.

When given the choice he preferred Tennessee. This is not a 'victory' for Marques Ford. I would call it a nice get for Rutgers, however.

...and there are many variables to whether or not he gets a better education at Rutgers than he would have necessarily had at Tenn including field of study and how hard he works. If he is like the majority of football players and majors in sociology than there is no difference.
