We have need at OL,DL,DB and LB. But hey...lets pick up and ATH that may play QB or WR...let's forget where our needs are. We have needs all around the football field, yet people think we will take 3 QB's. If we take another QB over and OL, I will have to question CBJ.

Ya mean you would not take Gibson over Richmond? WHAT? :)

TG, although has a lot of potential, is very raw.

Dormady is a coach's son with great mechanics, decent mobility, and a good arm.

Jefferson is a coach's son with sound mechanics, good speed, great hands, and a good route runner.

Dormady is already committed, and it looks like we lead for Jefferson who is committing soon.

I really think TG has missed his window. Could be wrong though

Yea right. Every single expert says his ceiling is first round Mike Vick/ Vince Young/RGIII. Dormady is solid. No one has said he has Manning or Luck potential. His floor may be higher but his ceiling is way lower. They both have the same arm strength and can make all the throws, they are the same size, Gibson has way better athleticism. Gibson has way more potential. He may be more like likely to bust at qb but his potential is way higher.

EVERY SINGLE ONE huh? When you make declarative statements like that, you lose cred...first of all, what certifies ANYONE as an expert? Second no way in Hades that EVERY single alleged "expert" shares that opinion...reason why there has never been a unanimous selection to Cooperstown. Human nature. :salute:

Gibson will have a committable offer until NSD.

If you can read its pretty easy to see what they think seeing as there have been a million articles about Gibson being recruited by Butch and being the top DT qb.

Gibson is the top ATH that plays as a DT QB. He is not ranked the top DT QB...

So I guess you think CBJ doesn't know what he is doing? You seriously think he and his staff have not considered everything you have? Until we have heard that CBJ has backed off recruiting TG then he is a take.

So coach please tell us more of your wisdom. For crying out loud do you honestly think before you type? The coaches know what they are doing and know more about our needs and numbers than everyone on VN combined. Stop acting like you know whats good for the team. You don't and neither do I. Good Lord.

OK. The vast overwhelming majority say that. All the articles I have read say it. I still have yet to see one single article rave about QD's potential and say how he may be a NFL qb one day. They all say we were desperate for a qb commit and took him to have one. The only ones disputing Gibson's potential and if we would take him are on message boards. I have yet to see anyone post any proof that we would not take him or if we do it would be at a position other than qb. I'm waiting for any thing to dispute what I said. Just even one source.

Butch knows what he's doing...yes he's still doing the full court press on Gibson...lots of time before EEs report...if a flip does occur, you don't want to start cold calling recruits after you burnt a bridge...much as I dislike it, the Dews recruitment shows that he can get a commit (silent or otherwise) to reopen their recruitment...which easily happens with TG's commitment timetable...even if he commits in December, as long as QD and JJ enroll before NSD...then TG will "explore other options"...jmo

Excellent! We've moved from "every single" to "vast overwhelming"...we're aiming for "It's all a crapshoot and you guys have as much a point as we do...May God and George Clooney have mercy on our souls".

Easy buddy, no need to take everything so seriously. Not need for the "for crying out loud"s and "good lord"s...

I never said we weren't recruiting TG still. There are plenty of variables in recruiting...which is why we wouldn't burn that bridge. But if you think TG is going to take the place of an OL or DL guy...I think, IMO, that he wouldn't.

Where have I ever suggested I knew more than CBJ...or anyone for that matter? This is forum to discuss our opinions...and that is what I intend to do...give my opinion of things...

I can't say 100% but all the articles I have read say it. I am still waiting on any source disputing what I said. So seize on 90% vs 100% or whatever and ignore the fact that the consensus is in line with my views. Still waiting on anyone to post where we have backed off or will ask him to change to wr or db.

Weird to me that this thread is filled with posts by people that think TG either isn't a take or isn't a take as a QB or isn't a QB at all.

If you really believe that, why do y'all LIVE in this thread? Move along.

Seems like a ploy for attention to me. JMO.

It should be expected the coaches would still recruit TG. Of course that does not mean they would take him. Anyone who has followed recruiting at all this year know our coaches recruit kids they would not actually take. It's part of the business of recruiting. Always have to have back up plans just in case.

Harrell is a great example. He was an Ole Miss commit. He de-committed as our coaches had him thinking he had a place at Tennessee. That proved to not be accurate, they were just recruiting him. He then committed to AU. Now news is coming out saying he still speaks with the UT coaches. It looks like they are still recruiting him and he's been passed on once and committed to 2 other SEC schools already. Our coaches will recruit through NSD spots or no spots.

It's one of the better discussion threads to me. It may be a lot of back and forth, but at least it is focused on recruiting and recruits. If the topic moves to baseball, the world cup, or bbq, I'm out. :eek:lol:

So you are really comparing the recruitment of a 3 star 685 ranked o linemen to a top 20 5 star prospect with all the major schools after him? Yea I'm sure Butch treats the guy he has been wanting bad all year the same as a back up plan linemen.
