Domino effect: Quinten Dormady, Blake Barnett cause movement
Tennessee Tennessee can breathe a big sigh of relief with the commitment of Dormady on Monday night. For a program in desperate need of depth at the quarterback position, Tennessee was running out of options for elite passers in the 2015 cycle. The only negative to that Dormady commitment is that it hurts the Vols in their Torrance Gibson hunt. Auburn could be slowly taking the edge for the athletic lefty.
Tennessee takes QB commitment; has Gibson derby changed direction? | Saturday Down South
Tennessee already has accepted a commitment from ATH/QB Jauan Jennings, and with this decision it looks like a very strong insurance plan just in case Gibson doesnt end up in Knoxvilleor maybe if Gibson does show up and ends up at another skill position, as has been suggested.
Quinten Dormady Commits to Tennessee: What 4-Star QB Brings to Vols | Bleacher Report
After Zach Gentry committed to Texas and Sheriron Jones pledged to Florida, the Vols were down to just a handful of viable targets with UT offers remaining on the board.
With Torrance Gibson and Deondre Francois not expected to decide soon, Dormady represented Tennessee's best chance to secure a high priority early in the process.
"They needed a quarterback pretty badly," Callahan said
Following Ferguson's transfer, there was no way Jones could wait on 5-star top quarterback target Gibson to make a decision that could drag all the way to national signing day.
If the Vols put all their eggs in Gibson's basket and he chose somebody else, the egg would wind up on Jones' face.
Waiting wasn't an option.
They all say we were running out of options and couldn't afford to wait on Gibson in case he didn't chose us.
Thought you had all the "experts" on speed dial?
These are quotes on VQ and 247 boards when people asked about TG... i posted everything Callahan has said on TG in the last 12 hours (start a couple pages back and you'll see).
Gibson has said we lead. He is still involved with many of our recruits. These are the same guys who swore Ferguson was the next Manning. When I see it from Gibson or the national guys I will think something has changed. How can they know what Gibson is thinking? You think the coaches called them and told them they were backing off Gibson? Or Gibson called them and said we don't lead? Sure.
The articles when Dormady signed even said we were desperate and took him in case we didn't get a better qb.
Exaggerate much? Can't say I remember Hubbs or Callahan saying that Riley was the next Manning. They just reported that he looked the most ready to start of the guys we have coming into the 2014 season.
It's alright my man. There is always one who chooses to go down with the ship. I'd conserve your energy if I were you. You may need it when it's time to dogpaddle to shore.
You are right they didn't say that. People just twisted what they said to make it seem like that. Like this whole we backed off and don't lead thing. They never said he was the most ready. People twist stuff to fit their agenda and ignore what doesn't. Just like they ignored the reports of Ferguson's many turnovers in the spring.
And its funny when people were running with the twisted quotes the anti Gibson guys were all in here. Now I ask for proof and its crickets.
What proof are you looking for? These are quotes seen by many who are either on VQ, 247, or both. I hope you aren't suggesting Callahan's or Hubbs's quotes didn't occur. And I have been all about getting Gibson on board. But those quotes would suggest UT and or Gibson has taken a back step. Whether it be momentarily or not, who knows. But that's apparently where we are right now with this recruitment.
I'm not the one faking things. There is not one shred of proof anything has changed. If there is show me. Its that simple. You have no proof so you try to be funny. The ones sinking are the anti Gibson guys. Yall are so desperate and whiny yall make up things.
"I wouldn't say Tennessee has stopped recruiting him, but I also wouldn't put Tennessee as the favorite for him".
That is Hubbs speak for "He Gone".
TIFWIW.
