If Doug Matthews is your source than there are about 3 to 5 people on VN better connected and you may want to consider changing sources. I like Matthews but he has been way wrong several times in the past and I was surprised. Take what he says with a grain of salt.

Just curious what was he wrong about and do you have a link to it? I ask only because I don't know how "in the know" he really is.

Earth to k-town_king……read up and understand who DM is close to and understand what his source does and who he is.:hi:

It doesn't make a difference who his source is if he didn't get the information from them.

Nice try though.

Exactly. Mathews is not a recruiting expert. He admits he doesn't really follow it that much. He said he didn't get this info from any of his "sources".

You are hilarious Tux. You will ignore what comes out a person's mouth and cry about people not listening to said person.

CBJ takes 2 QBs.

Callahan's quotes were posted and seemed to point to UT was not pressing for TG.

Hubbs quotes were posted shortly after saying the same thing.

TSR guys saying TG to UT is not happening.

Now Matthews flat out says UT will NOT take his commitment.

"But CBJ himself has not said it, I won't believe it"! :)

People treat this thread the same as Adorees. They stay on standby till it looks like its going their way, then they say, "See I told you he wasnt coming here." or start saying how all of these other players are better lol. Adoree was still the best CB in last yrs class and TG is still going to be a good QB if where he goes allows it to happen.

You still trying to say that is what Callahan said? I know you didn't miss when he came on TSR to say that people were lying about what he said and we are still after Gibson and had a good chance.

Hubbs said we are still recruiting him but doesn't know if we lead. Not really making your case either.

Mathews says he doesn't really follow recruiting and didn't base what his opinion is on any insider info. Only on the fact he heard they told JJ he would be the only dt qb. Not really making your case either.

Hooker had Callahan on who said we are still after Gibson and want him. As soon as he hangs up he gives his opinion we want get him. Not real convincing either when the expert he had on just said the opposite.

Fortenberry and Bartow say we are after him. What about them?

The mistake your making is trusting Bartow. He is a Miami guy. He is the Canes 247 guy. He needs TG to be a top story. He needs to claim top schools are still after TG. He needs these things because it helps hype TGs commitment to the Canes IF he can qualify.

You're looking for anything you can find to tell you TG and UT are still possible. It's something you need. The fact is there is a lot more saying that ship has sailed rather than UT would take his commitment even today.

Deep down I think you know it's not happening. You'll just ride it out and keep hope alive. That's cool. Do what you need to do.

I honestly do not remember specifics. It is sort of like my opinion of Hyams. I remember liking him and now I still like them both. However Hyams got burnt a couple of times and was wrong. Now he waits until everyone knows before he announces anything of significance. Matthews at one time was very well connected. He no longer is, and a few times I remember thinking hmmm he really missed that. So my belief that what he says is gospel or that he is well connected has took a hit.

This wild scenario that you've made up in your head with Bartow covering for TG is ridiculous. Bartow is EASILY one of the top 5 most respected recruiting analysts on 247 and it's ludicrous to think he would do that for any prospect.

And did you not see what Fortenberry said this morning? You were hammering away the other day about how legit Hubbs and Fortenberry are but now you ignore PFort's report.

What position is UT recruiting Gibson to play? What position do you think he plays in college?

"Quarterback. But, he's a guy that could play multiple positions if quarterback didn't work out. I think what position he plays depends on where he ends up."

I mentioned what Hubbs said as he was quoted directly. I never mentioned Fort the other day at all.

And that Fort quote says what? Does it say UT is pushing for a commitment from TG? Does it say UT would take him today or at all? Negative. He was recruited as a QB. I think most everyone knew that. Once the staff took 2 other QBs, that is when the talk of him as a possible WR started. Now it's pretty clear Jefferson gets the last WR spot and TG t UT is not going to happen. It is what it is my man. No reason to get all bent out of shape about it.

So you are ignoring all the other points I made and focusing on one you made up? Typical Leb.

What about RC saying he didn't say what you said he did?

What about the fact Hubbs said we are still recruiting Gibson?

What about the fact Fortenberry says we are after Gibson?

How am I bent out of shape? By disagreeing with your theories and posting something from Fortenberry? Lol

They ignore what all of them say until something is stated giving a opening for them to twist into we aren't after Gibson. Its sad really. Or Hilarious. I can't decide which one it its.

This ship has sailed. I'm perfectly fine with taking Dormady and Jauan as our QB's this year. Leb is right, no need to spend three scholarships on quarterbacks. Dormady, for you guys worried about his stars, will get a bump too.

So you're that street preacher guy who's always crying and laughing at the same time?

Maybe I am missing something. Where in that quote you just posted from Fort says UT is actively recruiting TG at all or would take his commitment?

Would I be surprised if the UT coaches were still "recruiting" TG? Not really. It's part of recruiting to continue to do so throughout the process.

Have I seen anything in the last month that points to UT would actually accept his commitment? Nope. Especially since QD committed.

Yes, I have said for a while TG and UT would not play out. IMO, it's not.

I still you are still running from refuting my points.

What about Hubbs saying we are still after Gibson?

What about Callahan saying we are after Gibson, have a good shot , and we will take him no matter the numbers?

Not doubting your info, but I missed those quotes. Do you have a link?

Fort was asked what position IS Tennessee recruiting Gibson? (as in currently, today)

Fort responds with "Quarterback. But, he's a guy that could play multiple positions if quarterback didn't work out."

If UT were no longer actively recruiting TG, PFort would've probably corrected the poster.

Are you new to recruiting? "Still recruiting" could be attached to just about every recruit on UT's board over the last 6 months. Of course they "still recruit" them. That could mean they speak to them once every 45 days to keep them on the string just in case.

So as I said, nowhere in that quote does it say UT is actively recruiting TG at QB or would they take his commitment.
