last week on bucknuts.com i had an item in my daily buzz that 5-star quarterback/athlete torrance gibson has been talking to ohio state director of player personnel mark pantoni and gibson is working on getting up to ohio state for a visit before the end of the summer. Some had written off gibson when in regards to the buckeyes, but when it comes to urban meyer and his staff, they rarely give up on a great talent. And there is absolutely no question gibson is a great talent.

So i checked in with a source familiar with gibson and his recruitment and got this report.

“i can see ohio state and auburn involved all the way,” the source said. “gibson has freakish speed. All three schools that had been really involved, ohio state, auburn and tennessee, had to go get another quarterback to cover their bases. but i’m not convinced tennessee is going to stay in this. at the end i could see ohio state and auburn still there. There’s going to be other schools too like miami, central florida and some others. But i can see ohio state staying involved.”

Trust has been the recurring buzz word with this staff when concerning the QB position. It's the reason Ferguson found himself down the depth chart despite his ability at the position. I see no way they could bring Gibson in as a QB if those rumors of maturity issues are true.

Well the coaches know what they are doing. We need talent like Gibson on the team. Simple maturity issues can be fixed. Also a lot of these so called issues, have been just rumors and are just conjecture. If CBJ wants him then so should the rest of us.

I'd still like to land TG, but I'm comfortable with where we are at having the two guys we have already.. I like that we have a similar type qb in JJ and another guy that could really blow up this year..Makes this TG stuff a lot less stressful.

I hope you remember this when TG does not sign here. And we DON'T need TG. This team will be just fine without him. I will go a step further and say that this team will be championship quality without him.

we need a top flight qb. not saying tg is it. time and time again. top qb's are shown to get er done.

@Birm: Torrance Gibson's sprained right ankle is noticeable on day two, moving gingerly and not putting full weight on his front foot.

I definitely agree with most of what you said. The maturity issues have been echoed by many sources, some that are pretty measured and reserved about making statements like that.

Torrance Gibson does not like being called an athlete...he says that Butch Jones and coaches talk to him every day and Tennessee is still on top for his commitment...says he has learned a lot from Trent Dilfer and Jordan Palmer....he says that he has learned things at QB that he never knew before this week.....
“Kahlil McKenzie, he’s my guy, man,” Gibson said of the Concord, Calif., product. “I can’t wait to see him tomorrow.”
The two have even discussed attending the same university. Two possibilities are Arizona and Tennessee. Gibson has a list of schools that’s concentrating on but the Wildcats are currently on the outside looking in.
With second-year head coach Butch Jones leading the way, the Tennessee Volunteers continue to lead the pack of favorites followed closely by Auburn and LSU.
Gibson says he may take a visit to check out Arizona in September. He has tentative plans to trip up to Ohio State in July.
