As soon as McKenzie commits Thursday, TG will pop out behind that massive 6'4 350 frame and commit to the Vols giving us the best boom day of our lives

Me if that happens, not kidding...

His recruitment reminds me a lot of what we see in the drafts with guys like teddy bridgewater or Marcus smart this year...

Your initial reaction when you see him is wow he has so much potential then as time goes on we overthink and over analyze things and nitpick things until people talk themselves out of going with their gut.

This doesn't just go for this board, I think we're seeing some of the analyst doing the same things. They ranked him a top 10 player initially for a reason.

ESPN notes...

"When speaking of the quarterbacks who struggled with accuracy in the fast-paced environment, Torrance Gibson would be on top of the list. The No. 2 athlete in the ESPN 300 wasn't precise in his delivery or as accurate as the other quarterbacks. His elite athleticism, however, always shows up, even in this setting"

So, here goes nothing.

Torrance did an interview with Danny Parker yesterday. His timeline has moved up to October or November. His top 3 currently is UT, Auburn, and LSU in order. He will take officials "for sure" to UT, Ohio St, and Auburn. Has become really good friends with Kahlil McKenzie, and discusses recruiting with him often. He loves CBJ plan to get Tennessee back, and "knows" Tennessee is on the way back. He hates the term athlete, and "knows in his heart" he is a QB. He texts Preston Williams and is looking forward to meeting him at the opening.

Sounds promising. Thanks for info. Hope he keeps doing what he does. I don't think character issues were every an issue. I don't think there were issues at all just people stirring the pot to see what arises. Hope to see him causing headaches for Defenses in the SEC to come for the Vols. Go Big Orange

It's obviously more tailor made for a drop back pro style qb, but we have all seen the damage a real dynamic dual threat guy can do in the college game... Like beat the bama juggernaut and win a natty.. These are the times folks, get used to it.

Volatil says J Jennings is a QB to UT.

I will trust Volatil until he is proven otherwise. :hi:
Jennings will be given the chance to play qb, but I just don't think he's a qb either. Bad throwing motion. As for TG, he's too innacurate and that's the word we're getting from the opening. Plain and simple. Hope for the best, but until something changes that's just how it is for those guys.

"Hearing that Gibson is a take as an ATH but not as a QB for the Vols and the kid thinks he's Joe Montana so I don't see this ever happening. We've had many questions about whether or not he can be a quarterback in any offense that resembles pro style in any way and we don't think he can so while Gibson may tell people the Vols are all over him, it's not for QB."

"Oh, and he likes attention quite a bit in case you didn't notice."

Exactly. Farrell must be a "Gibson hater" too.

With the weapons we have on offense, I can't understand why some people don't want a pro style QB? The most we need the QB to do in our offense is to keep the ball one or two times a game to keep the defense honest. We've got WR's and RB's out the wazoo, and some people don't even want to use them.

Pretty strong words here. TG sounds like a real piece on all accounts. Maybe Butch could straighten him out if we got him but these character issues are being reported by everyone and that is a huge red flag. Especially for a QB.

He's a kid. Immaturity and attention whoring is to be expected a little.

Sure, a little...but when Farrell (who deals with these kids on a daily basis) calls him out like that, it makes him seem like he is above and beyond a little immaturity.

Kid just makes a bad impression on almost everyone he meets. I'm not being a "Gibson hater" it's just the truth.

We will be more than OK without TG. I will take a pocket passer right now with the weapons we have on offense. What's the point in having all of these weapons if we are not going to use them?

Yes you are being a GIBSON HATER....therefore you want TN to fail.

Absolutely. That's why the Dormady commitment was HUGE. He is going to thrive with the caliber of receivers we consistently land.

I kinda felt like that was unprofessional of Farrell. No reason to passive aggressively trash the kid or mock him with the joe Montana comment. That could've been handled better.
