This thread is nearing the epic stage.

Butch brings in one, QD, that is a pure spread passing QB. Butch may also have the ability to bring in two top DT QBs, one of which is an exceptional athlete that many top programs covet. If they both come, each will compete for one (most likely) QB slot on the depth chart. The one that loses has exceptional talent that can be used at a different position.

Yet, we have posters actually not wanting that to happen. They would rather have more depth somewhere else as compared to taking impact talent at a skill position of need that the team currently stinks at. Yep, that about sums it up.

My thoughts: If he comes on board, I'm willing to bet he gets a shot at QB. If he doesn't impress Butch and Co., he moves to another position (likely WR) and Jennings stays at QB. If he comes in and impresses the coaches, he stays at QB and Jennings moves to Defense. In either scenario, the team is better off...and that's what I think the staff is looking to do. Upgrade the team with elite athletes.

The only thing is that he will be six months behind the two guys we have coming in. He'll look bad compared to Dormady and Jennings.

Behind yes, but that doesent mean he cant pass them over even thatll he will def play QB. Fact is UT needs Gibsons athletic ability and is in no position to turn it away.

RT @InTheBleachers: Watching George Campbell give WR pointers to Torrance Gibson was a pretty nice moment.

But he's un-coachable, has character issues, and doesn't want to play anything but QB.

"Hearing that Gibson is a take as an ATH but not as a QB for the Vols and the kid thinks he's Joe Montana so I don't see this ever happening. We've had many questions about whether or not he can be a quarterback in any offense that resembles pro style in any way and we don't think he can so while Gibson may tell people the Vols are all over him, it's not for QB."

"Oh, and he likes attention quite a bit in case you didn't notice."

Bump.... Direct quote. Little unprofessional, but that's MF for you.

IMO there are two options for Gibson.

1.) Try and take the Ryan Tannehill path and play WR while working on improving his QB skills

or,

2.) Play QB for a smaller school like ECU and then depending on how much he improves enter the draft as a QB or a WR (ala Brad Smith)

When I saw the 247 report that he was playing WR, I knew this thread would be blowing up. Some people probably aren't around to read it because their heads exploded.

This is from a few days ago, but worth having a little look.

In a video interview from "The Opening", he was asked if there are any players he would like to play with in college. He replied that he has several friends he'd like to play with, but wanted to keep it quiet. He went on to say that he would like to play with Kahlil McKenzie. I wonder if those unnamed players could be Josh Malone, Dillon Bates, and TK2? If so, he's more than likely a Vol.

Torrance Gibson is one of the highest touted recruits on the recruiting trail in quite sometime.

Gibson not only displays tremendous athletic ability on the field, but high character off the field.

On this Fourth of July where most are celebrating our great nation's birthday, Gibson takes time to answer five questions as he approaches The Opening and his upcoming senior season.

1. What is your favorite part of the recruiting process?

"Meeting new coaches and looking at all different campuses around the nation, along with meeting new people."

2. Who has been the coolest athletes/individuals that you have met on visits and/or camps?

"Josh Malone, Dillion Bates, & TK from Tennessee."

3. How excited are you to be participating in The Opening?

"I'm very excited and I'm bless to be given a opportunity to go against the best of the best and compete. I just want to finally show everyone that I am a quarterback and that I can play the position."

4. Why do Tennessee and Auburn stand out to you?

"Those are the two schools that showed the most love and stayed in touch with me the most."

5. In your own words, describe what Butch Jones and Gus Malzahn mean to you?

"They mean a lot and they're both hard working, successful coaches in their own way. I can't wait until this season to see what they can do with their talented football team."
