I believe as others have pointed out, size may indeed be a contributing factor. He recently measured in 5'8" at the Vols JR day. To be honest after watching his film, his game reminds of Payne so it's not like this kid is at all lacking in the skills department. That being said with the tight numbers next year (the general consensus being we take 2 CBs) it of little surprise to me that the coaches are choosing to be a little more selective with their defensive backs. We are in on a lot of really good defensive backs this year so in my opinion this should be looked at as a positive for us. If the coaches turned down a commitment or expressed a miscommunication then it's pretty obvious our coaches have someone they feel good about who is actually higher on their board. They must be in on some really big cats, like Minkah Fitzpatrick big, to not take Shelley's commitment right now.
Let me google that for youDoes anyone have a link to his highlights? Sounds like if he grows 2-inches hes a take....
It appears that Shelley's commitment is not certain.
Four-star defensive back Duke Shelley commits. . . or does he? | VolNation BlogVolNation Blog:ermm::ermm::ermm:
It's nice to know we can now be selective?
