'15 GA DB Yaquis "Duke" Shelley

Only taking 2 CB's per Fortenberry and we're in on some that are higher on the board like Garrett Taylor, Ugo Amadi and others. I hope we take Duke but if it's not been confirmed yet it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

Sucks for this kid, but he still has a ton of time to find a place he likes. Best of luck to him.

UT mine as well quit recruiting Tucker High if this happens not sure if they'll be welcomed back in with open arms

This kind of thing happens a lot these days. Best if all parties handle it with a level head and understanding. Mr. Shelley will likely get many opportunities to find a place he loves. Still very early in the recruiting cycle.

I agree if it turns out the kid called to commit and whoever he spoke to at UT took his commitment. If that coach was not able to take it, he should have told the kid to wait and NOT go public till after whoever could approve it called him back to confirm. Obviously the kid felt UT was recruiting him to actually commit and be in the 2015 class. Hope it all works out and the kid is added to the list quickly.

They may act level headed within the public but deep down they don't forget

OV, you know the inner workings of recruiting and what the coaches say to recruits. How would this type of thing happen? Did the kid jump the gun, or do you think the coach he talked to on the phone took his commitment?

I don't know really what happened but I know he talked to so done at UT then posted on Twitter that he's a Vol

Butch when he's in other SEC school's states:

lol......that's a post of the year nominee right there.

Wow everyone needs to watch his tape. He had Insane speed. He has an extremely long stride for his size and he effortlessly runs last people. Hes got talent. We need this guy he's a for sure playmaker and would be a dynamic return man. He reminds me of all the elite db's that lsu and Florida get every year that kill us on special teams

Surely, the coaches have a spot for one athlete in this class. Take this kid as an athlete...please!!! Can you imagine him and Vic back for kick off returns? He's a threat to take it to the house every time he touches it.

Why might the Vols not take Shelley's commit right now?

"Shelley is a good player, but he's around 5-9, 155 pounds and I really wonder if they are ready to really take someone like that when they have others on the board.

They have an instate corner in Ugo Amadi who is in the same ballpark of a player as Shelley is and he's from in the state. Then you have a really, really good player in Garrett Taylor who likes you a lot right now.

I think that's probably seeing some things play out like they are right now."

he's a very good athlete, but size is definitely a concern. I'm told he measured in at 5 feet 8 inches saturday during tennessee's junior day, which was the first time he had been on campus.

I'm not saying the vols don't want him, but that's obviously one possible explanation for why they might be a bit hesitant to take him at this point.
