Joe Henderson is ineligible due to a NCAA ruling.

One of his test scores was flagged by the NCAA and he is in the process of retaking the test. Hope he does well and can get back on the team quickly.

Finally, the Vols continue to be a player with linebacker Quarte Sapp. As we all know by now Sapp likes to play things close to the vest. He was scheduled to be at Michigan State last weekend but instead headed to Miami for a visit. The Hurricanes continue to be a real factor in that one, too.

I just don't see us taking 3 LBs this cycle, especially with how much nickel we play and the number of LBs we have on the roster. Smith and Kirkland will be the only 2 we take IMO.

I agree. I think Sapp lost his spot when a few current Vols were moved over to LB.

Sapp just tweeted that Thig just came by to see him. I don't think Thig would be there if we were cutting Sapp from our list. If Kirkland pulls the trigger, then Sapp might lose his spot.

I'll take the MLB Kirkland in a second. MLB is a big need right now.

Now with Griffin possibly being looked at as an OLB instead of a S and add to it he's taking visits, I might consider that all teed up for the UT coaches to take Sapp in that spot.

Elsewhere, Tommy Thigpen was in the Atlanta area to meet with Quarte Sapp. As we reported earlier this week, Sapp has scheduled his official visit to Jan. 16. Right now, we still believe it to be a Tennessee-Miami battle, but if another school like Texas A&M were to offer, or maybe a Florida State or Florida under a new coach, that could change some things.
