Why not? Woody just said that he would easily graduate in the spring, and be able to enroll with 4 years to play 3 with the Vols. Why would he mention us as where he would play out his final 3 years, if he hadn't already committed to the coaches? Why wouldn't he say that is how much eligibility he will have left at the college of his choice? I think it speaks volumes that Woody specifically mentioned the Vols only.
For those of you who have questions and/or concerns about Justin's recruitment, here are two articles which, although dated, explain his academic strategy, the Tennessee connection with his JUCO coach and why Justin is almost certainly bound for Tennessee: JuCo CB Justin Martin out of Nashville will be a name to know and Justin Martin draws Tennessee Vols.
Right now, Tennessee has been in contact with me, he said. Other small schools but primarily Tennessee right now.
Its a good program. Its a rebuilding program. I like the program. I like Knoxville as a whole. Its cool but Im looking forward to any big time opportunities.
Asked who else hed be interested in hearing from, Martin had one specific school in mind.
I like LSU, he said. Thats just a school Ive liked since I was little but really just any big time schools.
But NEO [North East Oklahoma] coach Ryan Held said Martin eventually will play at UT, joining eight other area players from the 2014 class.
Hes a lock to Tennessee, said Held, a graduate assistant during UTs 1998 national championship season. They put him here. Unless theres a break between the two parties, hes going to UT.
Martin said he also has offers from Ole Miss, Memphis and South Florida, but Held said he is committed to Tennessee.
Well, you rarely know precisely how questions were framed in the course of a published interview. In this one case, I would give more credence to the more recent article. Justin is a Nashville Overton product and Maurice Couch is the primary contributor to the Tennessean on matters pertaining to mid-state high school recruiting.
I haven't ventured over there in a LONG TIME. I heard there's weeping and gnashing of teeth and it smells of cooked cauliflower.
Kid I wasn't sure I wanted in thus class a couple weeks ago did some research and now believe he would be an amazing get. An lsu offer to a corner says alot to me.
That LSU offer came after a camp, and the Florida offer is just as impressive.
A Tennessee offer at corner will be something other fans look for in a few years with the young guys we have now.
