Per 247 Sounds like you won't hear anything about him committing until everyone sees what he does grade wise. He very well could end up in 2016 class if he doesn't have a good semester. The hope and expectation is 2015 but everyone is monitoring him.
Thanks KB! Thought so, I wonder where all this is coming from?
Here it is ....
"He is 100 percent a take.
The deal with Martin is that he left high school early to begin his JUCO clock, so he started in January of this year. He finished the spring semester with a 3.0-plus GPA. He also had an NCAA qualifying ACT score out of high school, just a very low GPA. He took several credits over the summer and also did well and with a heavy course load in the fall and in the spring, he'll easily graduate and be ready to enroll with four years to play three with the Vols.
He has elite speed and the kind of height that SEC coaches dream of, measuring about 6-1/6-2 and a laser 40-time in the 4.4's."

Correct. He did this because he stumbled badly coming out of the academic starting blocks in portions of his sophomore and junior years in high school. He realized that his chances of achieving a GPA high enough to obtain NCAA eligibility as an incoming freshman were marginal at best. Therefore, he decided that it was in his best interest to complete the GED, enroll in JUCO January, 2014 and, thus, be able to complete his associates degree by May/June of next year. That way, he will lose only one year of collegiate eligibility.
Probably passed all the required classes but just had a bad GPA.
Yep...not hard to dig yourself into a hole GPA-wise without realizing the consequences. I think it's great Justin saw the issue and took the initiative to get himself NCAA-eligible. Not many do that nowadays...just want to skate by and not put forth the effort. Good for him.
