'15 JUCO RB Alvin Kamara (UT commit 6/21/14)

They started to perform better the more the season wore on. This line blocks well when we actually run power. That's what Hurds big runs were off of. I would've punished the Sooners with pulling guards after I found out we could win some battles like that.

Spot on - again. Adjust the scheme for the talent. They ran left well (Jackson, Kerbyson) and Striker was neutralized a bunch when Kerbyson was blocking him. But let's not confuse the issue with facts. The whole line has to be bad and will never be as good as last year's unit. lol.

The bigger question is why did they not know that this was how Okie's scheme would work? They said it was a similar scheme as Utah State. I get Thomas not catching on - first start at Okie. But with Wolf out with no back assigned to stay in and block Striker and the flanks in the first half - what? They rarely throw to a back unless it is a screen anyway. Have them block. They adjusted to it some in the second half and Hurd helped out.

The people that are delusional are the ones that said this offensive line "would be better, especially in the run game" than last years.

You think we have a RB run for 90 against Oklahoma, last year behind that line?

I think Hurd would've been hard to handle behind last year's line. His biggest problem this year is getting met in the backfield.

Agreed. Speaking of Hurd it was nice to see some actually burst & explosiveness when he had a bit of a seam. Haven't seen that at UT from a RB in quite some time. Him & Kamara next year will be nasty.

Kamara is an explosive guy. Hurd left yards on the field IMO. You could tell it was new to him to an extent.

You know I have wondered why we never run a wheel route. Executed properly it usually produces a ton of yards.

I thought that would be a big go to route with Neal last season. They ran it a couple of times. I saw Butch run wheel routes with H-backs at Cincy. Pretty cool play that worked great with Kelce.

Why don't u people understand angles?

Because they spent a year watching Sals D and they've apparently forgotten the concept. Seriously, lets just put this to bed people. Hurd is by no means slow, and he didn't get ran down. The DB took an angle...just like they teach you and saved a TD. I don't know what else can be said about it.

Why don't u people understand angles?

And it's not just angles... It's a failure to realize that great defenses are going to have 4.3-4.4 guys too. A couple of these people are actually down on Hurd because people exist who are as fast as he is.

One bonehead in the FF actually said he didn't see SEC speed in Hurd. Mystifying. Hurd has a lot to work on as a RB, but speed isn't one of his problems.

I'm not slamming him, but with all the 4.3 hype, I was surprised how he also got chased down from behind by multiple defenders on both his big plays against OU and ASU.
