'15 JUCO WR Camion Patrick

I hope he gets the message and clears up his academic record. It is hard to believe that anyone with some effort can't make their grades in HS. It is probably from lack of interest or motivation. Hopefully he gets a wake up call from somewhere. Maybe he doesn't comprehend how this affects his future.

I used to be there all the time.. Would ball with "cocaine" jermaine and those guys... Lol

If u play in Clinton, u know who I'm talking about.. Dude used to be a baller.

Yeah, I've never heard him referred to as that but he is there mon/wed night every week lol. It is a shame, this dude was one of the most amazing athletes I've ever seen. Could have played WR or CB in college. His zero to full speed was amazing. Wish he would have panned out.

"I think I need to focus on the classroom," Patrick said. "That's more important than playing football. I've been realizing it, but I think it really hit me yesterday. I really wish I had handled my business in the classroom the last three years."

So what are the options for Patrick? He could finish up high school this year and try to enroll in a prep school the following school year. He could also possibly take his GED and enroll in Junior College in a few weeks. He's open to whatever course will give him the chance to redeem himself and play football again.

"I'm open to doing that if I can't get eligible," Patrick said. "It's not ideal, but I want to play at the next level. I put myself in this position and I have to dig myself out. I've been working hard the last couple of weeks and then this hit me in the face yesterday."

His mother lives across the street and his brother plays ball at West. West passed on him in December. Look for West to pick him up before school starts. He'll most likely be eligible.

So he can transfer and play somewhere else or is he just not eligible to play anywhere?

so based on this is it safte to write off patrick for this class

we'll just have to see how this season goes. If I were the coach I wouldn't take his commitment until he gets his 'ish straight. that being said, we try to keep discussion in the players specific thread. i made the same comments on his page. thanks bro!!!

Everyone has known Patrick has had grade issues for a long time. Obviously, his HS Coach did nothing to help him. Not surprising based on what I have heard about the coach at LC...

This is a pretty bleak position to be in for Patrick. This is just an inquiry, but aside from him needing to have a monster year in the classroom, as we all seem to acknowledge, I wonder if any others share my concerns that an entire year away from football will be terrible for his development.

Initially, he won't likely be working on the fundamental aspects of the game in as organized of an environment, but I feel like it may be difficult to remain as well conditioned as the staff may want him to be. What do y'all think?

He should immediately take the GED and enroll at a JC in hopes of making it into the 2013 class and he still gets to ball

He'll be at Hargrave or Hutchinson in 2013.

West is trying really hard to get him eligible this year but I doubt he'll make it in to Tennessee regardless of what he does this year.

No can do. Before they can transfer to a 4-year school, nonqualifiers attending a juco have to complete at least 3 semesters or 4 quarters as a full-time student (summer school doesn't count) and earn their AA degree with enough transferable credit hours.

IOW, 2014 is the earliest Patrick would be able to play at UT if he goes the juco route.

Patrick should not be considered a "commit" for the 2013 recruiting class. His comments clearly support that. Because the concept of "sign-and-place" no longer exists, we really only have 2 WRs (Smith and Harris) in this class.
