'15 LA RB Kendall Bussey (Former UT commit)

I ran a 4.57 once, but humbly deny its accuracy. I was a 4.7 guy

I ran a 4.3 once. Then my friend told me he thought he started it late. I have actually been timed at a 4.9 though.

I know a guy in the Marines who played soccer with me that ran a 4.5 in sweats, with a phone, keys, and wallet in his pockets, on grass. That was impressive.

I thought it was no man left behind?:)

P.S. thanks for your service man or his service. Not sure with the way you worded it if you were in the Marines or not...

My best friend was the fastest kid I ever played with. He was legit 4.4, but he was not agile and didn't cut or stop well. The guy returned several kickoff and punts, when he could just run straight.

The best all around guy I ever played with was a 4.6 guy. A bit slower straight line, but he played like Lesean McCoy, shakin people left and right. We always played two hand touch after practice. People usually never managed to get one hand on him. Let alone two.

When you can have speed and the ability to stop on a dime, then you have, well....
You have CP!

That's hilarious and absolutely true.

40 times are to be taken w/ a grain of salt, but ive seen the following:

Hurd - 4.37

Love - 4.30 & 4.47

Bussey - 4.37 & 4.42

Moral of the story is these three guys are all in the same class when it comes to breakaway speed.

I'd like to see us pull a rb that has Chuck Webb or Charlie Garner type quickness/explosion to go along with Jalen.

Also, while I know Jalen has been laser timed at 4.37, he just doesn't look that fast to me. I think he has really good speed, just not 4.37 elite speed. Jmo.

I give Hurd every benefit of the doubt, but I agree. I don't think he's 4.37 fast. He may get there, but when I saw Brandon Wilds take off for 80 against us (even though we were short a defender) I thought whoa, that's what I thought Hurd would look like in the open field. Again, Hurd will always draw my highest praise... ultimate team player, smart, prideful, all around good and potentially elite SEC back.

Cobb and Webb were the first Rbs I remember growing up, but did not get to see much of them. I loved Garner though!!

You know why? He can't play that fast. I've been saying it all season in a very respectful way. I think Hurd has the potential to be the best RB ever here. He has an unique combination of power, size, and quickness. He also has a really quick burst when getting to the outside. He'll look even better when he learns to read holes better, something that will come with more and more playing time. Here's what I think has happened, I believe that Hurd came here and blew by every RB we had here. I think our staff saw a guy who was just hands and feet better than anyone else we had. I think the hype started to build around him, and then people became convinced this guy was going to come out busting 30+ yard runs every game. By game two I knew two things about Hurd, one, he loves running over people, and two, he was going to be a RB who consistently gets 4-5 yards every carry. As the season has progressed, I believe our staff is starting to see a glaring need in our offense, which is a super fast RB in and out of his cuts. Perry and Love seam to fit this beal very well IMO. We need a speedster at RB. I'm talking someone who blows by everyone when he gets the ball. He may not be a great RB per se, but rather a great playmaker. Hopefully, it'll be someone who can catch, run, and play STs. I think Hurd/Karama/Reid are every down backs, and I think Perry/Love are the speedsters that come in to make big plays down field. I think Scott is a wildcard RB who none of us know enough about to tell what kind of RB he is.

Wait till he sees some day light up the gut, and doesn't have to scrape for 10 yards by racing to the sideline every play, or dragging DL for 5 yard gains

I've seen him bust a couple of 40 yd runs this year where he accelerated quickly through nice seams opened up for him. So, he got out in the open very nicely but was run down each time. 4.37 guys don't get run down. I'm really not trying to be critical of Hurd. I think he's a fantastic rb right now, is an incredibly mature all-around back already with his running/blocking/receiving as a freshman. Just observing that while I think he's very fast, he hasn't yet shown to be "elite fast".

I bet if I ran a laser timed 40 today it would be in the 4.6-4.7 range. I mean no disrespect to anyone when I say that.

I agree with you. I think he balls out in these last three games and really generates some buzz.

He's already been balling out pretty good in the 3 previous games as well. It's hard to believe he's only a freshman at times. Can't wait to see how he progresses. I'm ready to see what Scott can do as well, people seem to have forgotten about him but he's got a lot of potentialy. Just needed to get stronger IMO which is to be expected of most freshman.

I ran a 4.5 flat one time but I was consistently right around 4.55. I also had a 36 inch vertical which was like 4 inches higher than anybody else on the team.

That's all well and good fellas, but I'm not seeing any 400 times being mentioned, so color me unimpressed....
