'15 LA RB Kendall Bussey (Former UT commit)

“i think he’s made his decision to play in the sec,” kendall bussey sr. Said. “right now it’s neck and neck between a&m and tennessee. I think a&m has a little bit of an edge because of his roots with terry joseph and he’s bonded very well with coach (clarence) mckinney.

He added, “it’s between tennessee and a&m but i mean it’s very close. It’s almost a coin-toss. Arkansas is coming on strong too and we like arkansas. He respects indiana’s running backs’ coach, and he’s coming in tonight for a visit, but his heart is set on the sec. I do know a&m and tennessee are right there neck and neck. Tennessee was his dream school for a while so we have a lot to talk about tonight.”

“i know he wants to pick his school over the next two weeks,” he said. “it might be as early as this week. I talked to coach joseph this morning and i told him it could be as early as this week. Kendall doesn’t like a lot of attention and i think he wants it over with. It could be as early as this week, tonight, but we’re going to talk a little more when i get home tonight. He does want to get this done quickly and pick his school.”

That seems to be the going trend. :)

I would consider him the #4 RB in the state, but I don't really consider him an every down back either. If you have room in the class then he is a take, if not, don't reach. Just my two cents, could develop into a solid player.

I'll defer to your evaluation.. You were right on during the Bourque/Borque (hell I cant remember) in the face of Vol's fans accusing you of being jealous... People would be wise to listen to you as it pertains to LA players

This shtick gets old.

I think it's a heck of a way to look at it.

UT signs up to 4 RBs in 2015 because "we don't know what we got".

2015 season it's Hurd and Kamara who get 90% of the carries.

For the 2016 class UT needs to sign 4 more RBs because beyond Hurd and Kamara, "we don't know what we got".

In the 2016 season Hurd and Kamara get 90% of the carries.

For the 2017 class UT needs to sign as many as 6 RBs because with Hurd and Kamara leaving, "UT does not know what they have at RB".

Then we go into the 2017 season with like 14 RBs taking up 14 roster spots and we "STILL don't know what we got".

:birgits_giggle:

Coaches have to trust their evals and roll with the players they decide to sign. You just don't keep taking up spots for the same position because "you don't know what you got". JMO

Based on that 247 quote from dad, it sounds like he called Joseph tonight to commit to A&M.

IMO Kendall and dad both knew UT was slow playing him. Wanting him to wait to visit again around January. If A&M was ready to take him now, can't say I blame the kid. If UT were ready to take him when he visited a little while back, I think he would have flipped to Tennessee right after the visit.

I'm really excited about Kamara coming in, we have quite a bit of rb's on the roster right now, and need some spots for other positions of need, I think we take 2 rb's this class and leave spots open for positions in deep need

For everyone busting on Nationdom for his stance, he's not really wrong in this case imo. Behind Hurd we really have no other options that we can 100% rely on unfortunately. Hopefully Scott contributes next year, but until he gets in the rotation I don't know how anyone can count him, same with RDA.

How do I count them? Simple. UTs coaches evaluated them, signed them, and did so with the expectation that they could contribute on the SEC level. For me the whole concept of keep taking new guys at a position cause "you don't know what you got" is just silly. The coaches took them. I expect to see them developed and SEC caliber players. JMO

You have two scholarship running backs returning next year. Three in this class is a must.

Hurd
Scott
Abernathy (transfer on scholarship)
Summerhill (walk on?)
Pickett (walk on)

and the rumor of Paulk possibly getting reinstated.

so if we sign 3, then we will have 6 (possibly 7 with Paulk) on scholarship with 2 walk ons. Which is right around what we need.

Summerhill is gone

How many RBs got a snap after Hurd left the game? What if Scott doesn't turn into a contributor next year? Maybe I'm just speaking for myself, but Kamara and just Reid or someone else is not nearly enough to make me comfortable about the position.

IF Scott can contribute, IF Paulk is reinstated and rebounds from his injury to contribute, IF Hurd stays healthy the whole season then I would feel a lot better about the situation. As it stands now that is absolutely the position other than OL I am concerned most about.

Also I'd consider that like there was talk Evan Berry may get some carries at RB IF it came to that because of injuries, I'd say both Bruce and Perry could fit that type of role. Not every down backs, but 5-7 carries a game IMO would not be out of the question IF...IF...it came to that.

Lol. We need at minimum 3 backs this cycle.

IMO 2 is just fine with the addition of RDAIV. Everyone knows Hurd and Kamara will get the majority of the carries. RSing 1 RB for 2015 IMO is just fine(whoever they take Reid/his replacement). Get 2 good ones next year and we are fine.

I myself think worrying about who your 5th, 6th, or 7th RB is just silly. If you have quality RBs 7 deep, they won't be around long if they are not getting carries. They will be looking at transfer options.

Let them transfer. What happens when Hurd, Kamara get injured and Scott doesn't pan out? UGA lost Sonny, Marshall, and Gurley all for significant time this year. U Never have to many 4 and 5* backs.
