'15 LA RB Kendall Bussey (Former UT commit)

Scott was a 4*.
Pickett was a 3* #14 ATH in the country.
RDAIV was a 4*
Kamara is a 5* of course.
Reid is a 3*, Vaughn is a 4*, Love is a 4*, Bussey is a 4*.
Perry is a 3*
Bruce is a 3*

Take your pick. :)

These are not SEC backs.

Whatever though. I've made my point. Clearly, we'll never be on the same page. I guess I'll join the ranks.

This is like arguing with Sheldon Cooper.

And I'm sure you would have said Douglas is not an SEC RB if he played for UT, yet he is 3rd or 4th at UGA in yards per season. Even with all those stacks of highly rated backs.

RDA just isn't an SEC #4. Maybe I'm wrong. That is a scholly I think is a waste. Pickett is useless. Perry and Bruce aren't SEC running backs. Can the line up there for a screen twice a game? Yeah. But can you imagine if our 1-2 punch this year was Hurd and DY?

How do you know the scholarship is a waste? Just because you don't like it :loco::loco:

You don't know what his role is going to be with this team.

I think given what we've seen with Butch's special teams and the production of RDAIV in the past that he will at the very least be a very valuable addition on special teams. People underestimate the importance of them but a couple of our game have been won by special teams.

I don't know. "Maybe I'm wrong." "I think" it's a waste based on his size, skill set, and the competition level. I hope he comes in and leads the SEC in all statistical categories. Nothing would make me happier.

Yeah he is a pure returner and will be valuable next year if anything to tutor some of the young guys. He is a better version of D Young.

Very accurate post. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of filling s scholarship spot with a special teams player (again, I hope he balls out across the board). But, like you said, special teams can and does win games. :good!:

Who could have ever guessed who was involved right in the middle of a high post, long-winded debate? The one and only LV. Not only does he try to make his point in one post, he then continues to drive it home with 50 more posts.

All day baby! All day!

His dad said we were his "dream school."

WE'VE HEARD THAT BEFORE, POPS!!!

With him looking to jump all over the UT offer when he visited, it could very well be true. Problem was IMO that the UT "offer" was not the kind of "offer" they thought it was. At least not at that time.

If I am replacing Reid, I'd probably go ahead and take Vaughn(The Orange Mamba) IF he was interested in being depth at UT(he did say he wanted to play early wherever he landed). If that did not work, I would take Bussey even with the injury. Miss on both, I suppose we are left with Love.

Bussey is better than Vaughn once you deduct the Leb in state homer star from him.

Nothing against Vaughn but obviously the coaches do not agree with you. They have passed on even really recruiting him. I think it's Love then Reid and Bussey are in some order. IDK I guess they might would take Bussey over Reid at this point just because Reid is taking visits.

I'll defer to your evaluation.. You were right on during the Bourque/Borque (hell I cant remember) in the face of Vol's fans accusing you of being jealous... People would be wise to listen to you as it pertains to LA players

Well, evaluation is tough, I definitely am not saying I am always correct. Bussey is a take, if you have room, I wouldn't reach too far though either. Size is an issue, but even that can be a plus in the right situation. I think he can develop into a situation SEC back.

Bourque had issues and it had nothing to do with playing football.

I am not saying LSU is right all the time either, but with in-state guys they are usually a lot more right then wrong. The two RBs (in-state) they didn't offer were Eddy Lacy and Brandon Bolden... Lacy lack of an offer had nothing to do with football... Bolden was a miss.

Now LSU could have had some RBs but didn't want them from out of state which were somewhat misses.... Christine Micheal and Storm Johnson.

The one guy currently playing that LSU should have offered is Chucky Hunter playing for TCU, many LSU fans were surprised by that one. However, for the most part, very few players have escaped La. who ended up being real good without an offer from LSU.... they do a good job picking for the most part.

But Darrell Williams has worked out well for you all so far. 😠

We only have one returning RB that has exhibited the ability to help us compete like a top tier SEC program, and that is Hurd.

Unlikely Pickett can contribute to the leve we expect; he has looked unimpressive during garbage time. That being said, I never write a kid off completely.

Scott is an unknown at this point. We are confident in Kamara but he is still an unknown as he has not yet played and excelled against the kind of competition he will face next year.

Needless to say at the bare minimum we need Scott or Kamara to be an SEC-caliber back next year. Highly desirable to have one or two guys to develop behind them, whether that be Reid, Bussey, Love, etc.

It's been a long long time since UT had multiple RBs who were considered "highly rated" on the roster at the same time. I'd venture to say having more than 2-3 even in the past 10 years or so is rare, if ever. TN RBs who considered quality talent that lost to transfer? Bryce Brown(was not because of depth), Davis Oku(it was depth), and Lennon Creer(it was depth I believe).

4* or higher rated RBs signed by TN:

2014-2
2013-0
2012-1
2011-1
2010-1
2009-2
2008-0
2007-1
2006-0
2005-2
2004-1

2-3* RBs signed:
2014-1
2013-0
2012-2
2011-2
2010-0
2009-1
2008-1
2007-0
2006-1
2005-0
2004-1

That's (11) TOTAL RBs in 11 years that were 4* players. Yeah, stacking up those classes of 3-4 4*+ talent is the only way to win. SMH

We have only had 4 winning seasons during that time...FOUR. I wouldn't exactly call what we have done since 2004 "winning." JMO...

Scott is a real unknown. Had a couple of nice runs this year but mostly nothing. Been dinged up all year though. I am sure the coaches have an idea about him. Most fans do not. He worries me, and I wanted to see a little out of him this year. Is Paulk really coming back? I have seen this alluded to in several threads. But nothing definitive. We have him or we don't? Anyone know?

But Darrell Williams has worked out well for you all so far. 😠

Yeah, that late pickup was a good move, LSU initial only offered him at LB. He might not have the skill set of say Fournette or Hurd have but, man, he makes up for it in effort.

Actually I like Bussey heads up a little over Vaughn even with Vaughn being instate. Once I add in the recent injury to Bussey, I give the nod to Vaughn. Also just being able to refer to him as "The Orange Mamba" is a +1 in my book. We need more Vols with quality nicknames.

For the record Vaughn is known as "The Red Mamba" I'm assuming because of his HS colors. I say we change it to Orange IF he ends up a Vol. JMO
