'15 NC RB Bryce Love

So you sign him in place of signing a coveted cornerback like Ordway, Butler, Martin, Abernathy or a linebacker like Quarte Sapp?

Remember Tux the same ones screaming don't worry about the numbers as they will work themselves out, are the same ones screaming EVERYONE is a take. "They will make room, I don't have any clue how, they just will".

All those guys you listed, are obvious takes and we will take them all. Settle, Tuttle, Phillips, Richmond, Clemons, Olenga, Love, Jefferson, Gibson, Francois, Atkinson, DeBerry, Johnson, Harrell, Sweet, Sweat, everyone in the 247 composite listed in the top 125, They ALL takes! :)

Those are the definite takes of that bunch.

They don't affect each other at all.

They aren't going to take Martin and Brazil together. The others have spots no matter what, including Love

I'm not "hoping" we don't take him. IMO the scholarship could be utilized better for another position of need. The staff seems to be able to recruit RBs just fine. There are a couple good ones even instate in 2016. Give me another CB, LB, DL guy in 2015 with that 6th RB spot and I'll take my chances on getting 1-2 quality backs in 2016.

Someone posted the bama takes at RB since Saban had been there. Yup, they took a lot of backs. What they also had was ALOT of transfers because they took a lot of backs. I'd rather see us get some use out of those kids who sign vs just wasting a year or 2 getting them ready to play then watching them walk out the door to play elsewhere.

I believe the flip-side of your argument is more realistic; because it is terribly difficult to identify an elite back who is durable, you stack the deck and see which ones work out. It's an inexact science, for sure.

It's not our job to worry about the numbers so I don't know why people do it. Were just supposed to get behind the kids that choose to be vols and let the cards fall where they may. Worrying about numbers is just a negative way to approach recruiting IMO.

I disagree. Numbers are a huge part of recruiting and plays a big role in the speculation about it. Nothing Negative about it. Doug Matthews, Eric Ainge, Jason Swain, etc talk about the numbers quite often. I don't mind it being brought up from time to time but it can get a bit confusing just like all the other off topic stuff in players threads. Just the way it is.

With that being said, How many do we take this class?:)

Key word is speculation. None of those guys have any idea how the coaches big board looks. It's fun to talk about in the silly season but butch knows his needs more than anyone not in the room with him.

If the top players at each position wanted to sign here when we are a full, Butch will get them in. If that means cutting 10 players so be it. He would do it in a heartbeat and not think twice about it too. He's done it everywhere he's been and did it last year

Although I haven't yet heard "the numbers" ever really being an issue of concern at this point. I'm sure it's in the back of their minds, but certainly not every day topic like some here seem to propagate.

I'm good with that. Speculation is what this board is all about. :good!:

You talking bout Leb, right?:) Leb's alright in my book.

The same guy who'd rather have a great Dtackle like Tuttle, or a good lineman like Burrell.

Maybe if Love "takes them to the house" enough...they'll get comfortable and go the PREFERRED WALK-ON ROUTE?

I'm not saying that either. I'm just saying that taking this kid's commitment doesn't necessarily mean that we're missing out on another highly rated guy at another position.

If Love wants in, and the coaches think he's good enough to take a spot, he will. Same with Sapp, Ordway, Abernathy, Tuttle, etc.

That doesn't mean that all of those guys wanna commit and the coaches think they're good enough to let in though. We had a lot of surprises in recruiting last year and we've had a lot of kids try to commit and get turned down (who many of us believed were takes at the time).

I just don't see the point in getting in a huge argument about what the coaches will or should do in regards to taking Love (of he even wants to be a vol). The coaches will do why they're gonna do regardless of all of us rednecks online complaining that we want another DT or CB. The coaches are the ones who evaluate these kids (and what we've already got in house). They'll do what they think is best for the team.

You mean Butch and Bob Welton aren't running around like the Kermit gif and Macaulay Culkin on Home Alone?
