'15 NC RB Bryce Love

I mean, you've made your point

Recruiting is a daily grind. It takes a lot of focus and at times repeating things that pertain to a lot of recruits throughout the process. At times it may very well sound like something you have heard before in other threads. The reason for that, is because it is. :)

By ~September our "numbers issue" will square itself out and allow us to take a full class. This has been the chatter around these parts

Take notice that they only listen to you when it's good news on a recruit. When you talk numbers they seem to ignore it...

Thanks for the info, and I believe that you're right and it will work itself out.

Numbers were supposed to be tight last year with a few big targets still out there. Oh well we see what this staff will do. Very glad they don't worry about this nonsense. Smh

I'm not saying that either. I'm just saying that taking this kid's commitment doesn't necessarily mean that we're missing out on another highly rated guy at another position.

If Love wants in, and the coaches think he's good enough to take a spot, he will. Same with Sapp, Ordway, Abernathy, Tuttle, etc.

That doesn't mean that all of those guys wanna commit and the coaches think they're good enough to let in though. We had a lot of surprises in recruiting last year and we've had a lot of kids try to commit and get turned down (who many of us believed were takes at the time).

I just don't see the point in getting in a huge argument about what the coaches will or should do in regards to taking Love (of he even wants to be a vol). The coaches will do why they're gonna do regardless of all of us rednecks online complaining that we want another DT or CB. The coaches are the ones who evaluate these kids (and what we've already got in house). They'll do what they think is best for the team.

Too much logic and common sense in this post (blue font).

So Tux throws a list of d-backs out there plus Sapp as takes before Love. While knowing that they have quality safeties coming in to go with Randolph and McNeil along with true freshmen in Gaulden, Berry, and Mosely at CB to go with what was already on the roster with one proven lock down CB in Sutton. Add in two future starters committed at LB with all the Wills we need for awhile since a big safety or two can work into that role (McDowell/Berry) if necessary, just like JRM just did.

Just given the BS a rest. If they want Love and if he wants to come get it done. Until the guys at RB play you have no idea who will work out, who will wash out and who will flip before NSD. That position is unique and subject to more injuries than most.

Thanks GFW. I believe the "numbers" thing is much more of an issue to people that have nothing to do with recruiting except for making comments on message boards. The Tennessee staff will take everyone that they can sign on NSD and not worry about what I think about it (since they've not called me yet) and I doubt if they'll call anyone else on VN either. Just try to enjoy what this staff is doing because it's been a long time since we had much to be happy about. Go Vols, GBO
Oh, since I'm not on the coaching staff I'm still looking for an 8 win regular season this fall which will make recruiting easier and more fun.

They were also concerned with DT recruiting...

...and here we are about to land 2 top 5 DT's.

Yup. Same ones cried about DL recruiting last year, all spring and summer, and then were shut up. Then it was numbers talk and thousands of posts later it worked out just fine in February. Just like it will this February.

A complete waste of time and energy stirring up bs, day after day after day after day after day.

After day.

And yet, it does not bother me at all to do it. I like the discussion.

If we have another top 5 recruiting class in February we'll get to go through this same "discussion" again next year about numbers and position recruiting. Can't wait.

Next year it could be worse. I mean now that most of the roster is CBJ's players, dropping kids that he recruited will be tougher. Buckle up!

The only thing is, it's not really discussion, it's almost trolling your own fanbase

Not at all. It's discussion of the numbers and everything that entails. If the discussion causes you or anyone else issues, you don't have to participate. I don't force anyone to contribute if they choose not to. :good!:

I have to wonder if by considering a 3rd back if the staff is concerned about one of the other 2 backs getting into school next year? Or maybe one of them is not as committed as to make the staff feel comfortable with their commitment.

Thing is no one really cares about numbers....... You bring this up in every thread........

IMO it is very much relevant in just about every thread. The "numbers" are always in play and will dictate who is a take and when. You don't have to agree with anything I have to say. Of course you saying you don't care for it won't keep me from doing what I do. The "numbers" were not relevant in Sterling Johnson's, Marquell Harrell, Duke Shelley, Austin Clark, and Quentez Johnson's threads or so some of those complaining said. As it turned out, the "numbers" could have very well been why they are not Vols today.

Some people prefer to sit back and let it all play out. I prefer to discuss it during the process. To each their own. :good!:

It's always about the numbers. We have x amount of spots for x amount of future vols. If numbers didn't exist the game of recruiting would not be the same.

For the love of all that is holy, why do some people worry about the numbers!? Of all the things to worry about, "how many we're taking" shouldn't register on the Richter scale. It's a moot point because there's NO WAY it can't work out. Zero chance. Zilch. Do you think we accidentally sign too many guys or that the staff whose paid millions of dollars is that stupid? You numbers guys are just eat up with it, relax.

They have to have something to talk about. If not they would just go hang out in no mans land aka a Vandy message board.

The numbers discussion is ignorant speculation about a process into which almost none of us have legitimate insight.

Stupid discussion is stupid.

Carry on like we know you will.
