'15 NM QB Zach Gentry

I really liked what Gentry had to offer with his size but I'm already happy just to have Jennings on board. I have a feeling that he's going to be a big(ger) name than most people think by the time final player rankings drop

I also think Jennings will be better than most people think. No one coming in this year will be playing this season (unless injuries pile up). That will give him at least one redshirt year and one year as backup to develop under the new coaching staff. I would not mind if we use the other QB spot for OL or DL and take 2 QB's next year.

If we were not going to get him, I am glad he went to Texas instead of Bama or some other SEC school.

Mr. Gibson, c'mon down!

I've never been a fan of taking two qb's in a class because I've always felt that most legit qb's want to be "the guy" in their class. If two get taken then one has to feel slighted..no way around it. But if we don't take two qb's this year then our depth at that position is scary. I think we'll still see one of our guys transfer before the '15 guys step on campus. Fwiw Nunez was the second guy I really liked

Couple of thoughts here:

-losing him to Texas doesn't bother me as much as losing him to Bama would. I can understand the appeal of Texas for him.

-now we get to see Butch go into full court press mode against Urbzie. And it's always a pleasure to watch Butch go full Butch mode.

I concur :)

This one definitely caught me off guard. I knew Texas was always a threat but everything seemed to be pointing towards a fight between us and Bama.

Rather him be at Texas than Bama though for sure.

Gentry hadn't talked to any media outlet for almost a month. He was still talking to Tennessee and had talked to them every week leading up to his announcement. When Brent said shut it down, he meant with media outlets, not with coaches and teams.

One reason he decided to go to Texas, after talking to some people, was the distance factor. Liked Tennessee, but with Austin being much closer that may have made the difference.

Some other QB names to remember are certainly Gibson, the Darnold kid in Cali, Dungey in Oregon, Brian Lewerke from Arizona, Francois from Florida, Waller from California and Sheriron Jones from California, too.

Bajakian is doing another West Coast swing this week and will see several more guys and those we mentioned as he continues to evaluate guys. Jones may be one to watch as an offer guy.

I guess that I see a silver lining in all of this.

Best case scenario:

Get Torrance Gibson as our '15 Dual-Threat and then go all in for Austin Kendall in '16. This scenario wouldn't have been feasible if we got both Gentry and Gibson this year.

Jajuan Jennings is a dual threat QB and is already committed to UT. Just something to remember.

Really didn't see this one coming but I can understand the appeal. He was my favorite pro style QB for sure although there are a couple of other guys I wanted at QB more than him. The sky isn't falling though and we will still get our guy at QB IMO and a highly rated one at that. I know I'm in the minority but I like our chances with Gibson and have for a while now. I honestly think that there is a good chance he will end up a Vol.
