Jauan Jennings isn't going to fade at wide receiver; he's been a surprise blessing in that group. Not a surprise because of his talent or playmaking; coaches felt they knew what Jennings potentially could do. But from his mental toughness to his competitiveness to his willingness, Jennings has shown it all. One coach said he'd like to have a dozen Jenningses to coach; another one lauded the rookie as arguably the mentally toughest player on the team. More than once, Jennings has been the last man out of the wide receivers' room while getting extra film and playbook work accomplished.
Jennings' competitiveness has rubbed off on some others including Josh Malone. We reported in this space several weeks ago that Malone appears more comfortable in his skin than at any point last year and it's showing in his play. And not completely discount the arrival of Jennings the two know each other from the mid-state and Jennings has increased the competition level in the receiver room for everyone including Malone.
