You would think someone blue shirting and being given an opportunity to play at their dream school would be giving it their all and out working people instead of going through the motions
This is why I'm not completely buying the idea that we take under 20 recruits this year. There will be enough attrition to open up more than 20 scholarships. If we really do take less than 20 we'll end up well under the overall 85 number IMO.
Edit: And I just saw that Swafford's career is likely over due to an injury. I hate that for him.
I don't think it's because of the 85 number as much as the amount of blueshirts we had in this past class. There's been talk that we had as many as 7 blueshirts, and that they count towards the 2016 class. Taking those out of the inital 25, you have 18 to work with. If someone like Jumper gets a scholly, that number goes to 17. It's possible they could blueshirt a few guys in this next class, but all indications from what I've read is that the staff doesn't want to take any spots away from the potentially elite class of 2017.
I understand all that, and you're right, that is what usually reliable sources have been saying. I just have a hard time believing that Butch won't find a way to get more guys in here if the attrition gets to the point that limiting this year's class to 18 will leave us with around 80 scholarship players for the 2016 season (which is not a stretch at all IMO). We've seen how creative he can be with numbers. I'm sure he's got some more tricks up his sleeve.

School hasn't even started and this guy is already slacking off? Wow. I don't think it's any slam on the kid to say that his offer was a stretch. He had no other interest from a school like UT. He ought to be busting his ass. Very disappointing. Not sure why UT made a reach on this kid and not someone like Cottrell who was offered y other D1 schools.

We just need to step back and understand that Bruce just a kid months removed from high school. What is he, 17 or 18 years old. The fact that he needs to mature should not surprise or disappoint anyone. Discipline from the coaches and mentoring from his teammates will get him back on track. If it doesn't, then he is not someone that should be in the program.
Joc was not even a take. I'm not saying we should've took Nathan, bc he fits the GT offense. But cottrell was a hell of a lot better than bruce. When we played them in the playoffs this year.. We made joc look god awful, never seen someone with a UT offer so bad. Not even jaylond woods.
