Good grief, Travis Stephens comparisons...really? Anytime you see a kid running past everyone on the field in high school you can generally throw that play/highlight out, because that same speed difference between you and your competition rarely translates to the next level (with the exception of very few athletes [Harvin,CP,holliday, demps).
If a kid is going to project well at RB in college you want to see how he runs in tight spaces in high school because that is exactly how he will make a living at the next level.
So the people hyping this kid up are basing it all on his speed.
We have 1 RB spot left (maybe)
Would you take Cottrell over the rest of the guys we are in on?
Even Bryce Love who is faster, makes better lateral movements and plays better competition?
Serious question.

I am curious if Cottrell played in NC, would he still light up the stat sheet? I think he would. 2000 yards in a season is no little deal no matter the competition level. Would it be better if he tried to slow down so he could allow defenses to get a better angle so he could break a few more tackles on his highlight film? I probably would not take another RB, as 4 in the last 2 classes is solid. IF the staff decided to take another RB, I would have no issue at all seeing them take Nathan over the rest. I like seeing instate talent get to wear the Orange. Especially when they dominate on the field, even if it is vs "questionable" competition. Kid has went o several camps and shown out. I expect he will do it at the Opening as well.

This guy has great measurables, but if you compare his film to Rocky Reid's film you can see the difference. This guy is almost stiff when he runs. He doesn't make cuts, he turns. He's a great athlete though, but his future is not at RB.
I think he'd make a great safety fwiwSomething to consider is Reid looks like a 30 year old man - obviously an early developer. Cottrell looks like a high school student who should continue to fill out and get stronger. Not that these 2 are similar styled RB's, but Reid is probably much closer to his ceiling coming in as a freshman than most other recruits.
Is Cottrell only interested in being a RB? His speed could be utilized at other spots on the field also.
This. IMO anyone who would take Cottrell over Love has absolutely no clue whatsoever. Sure, Cottrell is fast, but Love is faster and a damn good RB. All the proof anyone needs is in the film. Much, MUCH better football player. Cottrell is a good athlete. Love is a really good RB/football player.
