'15 TN DE Dylan Jackson (former UT commit)

I would have!
Bama, asu, uf, miami, usc/ucla/oregon :)

Fine co-ed buffet right there :hi:

I am old enough that I would have enjoyed meeting Bear Bryant. Meet any legend that you can...of course I would have really liked to ask him how it was to coach against General Neyland :salute:

My dad played for Bear when he was the coach at Kentucky. Unfortunately Dad died in a car accident when I was in grade school so I didn't get to hear many stories of how life was playing for the guy. One of his sisters did tell me one time that the coolest thing she remembered was walking down the stairs one night to see Bear Bryant and Don Shula sitting in the living room talking my Grandfather into getting my dad to play at UK. Shula was an assistant coach then. Jus a bit o reminiss.....

I agree. He could move to OT and have a great career their. I think he could bulk up to around 270 and be a nasty SDE though. The offers from Alabama, LSU, and Stanford tell you all that you need to know about what kind of DE this kid is.

I think he's defense all the way. Intelligent kid should provide great contain on the edge.

I'd take all five visits and the accompanying trim... Ole miss and Arizona state would make the cut. Still deciding the other 3. I will release my final top five in October

Careful going to Ole Miss because you might not come back! They are using something more than peanut butter down there which I'm sure is not a violation of any type. :whistling:

If you are going to be elite, then you will have to go head to head with the elite. I'd be more concerned if Jackson weren't being pursued by big time programs. I saw the Maryville senior team photo the other day, and this kid is big. Yes, he has a frame to play OT, but i he could be a dominant DE in college. Want to see if he can play mean this year. Maryville has had some big kids like this in the past who didn't have the nasty streak.

“i’m still committed to tennessee."

“(lsu) was a cool offer to get because coach chavis called me, and obviously he’s a big name in college football — a lot of history behind his name at tennessee. He’s obviously earned his status, so that was a cool offer to get from him.”

“that’s still kind of up in the air right now,” he said. “but it’d be cool to go out and see some places around the country, just to see it. Obviously, i’m still committed to tennessee, but it’s just one of those things. You want to go out and enjoy the process while you can. Honestly, i haven’t really thought about it much at all yet. Obviously, the season’s coming up, so if i do decide to do that, i’ll have to think about it soon. But as of now i’ve got nothing planned, other than obviously an official (visit) over to tennessee.

“it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go and see these kind of places and go on the visits and enjoy yourself. But if tennessee doesn’t want me to do it, then that’s that.”

“i talk to coach strip’ (defensive line coach steve stripling) all the time,” jackson said. “i actually talked to coach (butch) jones and coach ‘jake’ (offensive coordinator mike bajakian) the other night, just catching up, small talk and seeing how the families are doing — that kind of stuff. It’s the same as always: (i like) the traditions (at tennessee) and being the hometown team. It’s kind of hard not to just feel the hype all the time.”

Smart kid obviously. He'll check with the UT coaches before doing something that could put his scholarship offer in jeopardy. Well done Dylan.

My guess, he does not take any visits other than to Tennessee.

That is extremely cool!
Thanks for sharing!

Shula is one of my all fime favorite NFL coaches...he has great steakhouses too! :)

I think it's awesome Dylan is getting these offers from other schools---for the simple fact that it gives some legitimacy to Butch and his staff's evaluation. How many schools do you think would go back and offer Emmanuel Moseley if they could?

Just went through the last few pages - absolutely Comedy Central. Thanks for doing the VN flip flop folks! Made my day.

There has never been a doubt with Dylan. Orange blooded local kid. If he wants to take a couple visits it will not matter unless Butch effs this next season up - which is highly unlikely to happen. Just quit making an O-lineman out of him unless he fails at what they recruited him to be.

A night in the ghetto, sounds great. UCLA is where you'd want to go to get the LA lifestyle, not USC. History and Tradition are extremely overrated.

U sound like a vandy fan with that last sentence.

Jackson is a Tush Hog! O-line for what? Going to be a physical player for us ON DEFENSE! That is why he is getting offers from the teams that have a reputation for being physical....Bumma, LSpew, and Stanford.

Hope not.

A kid who is committed, I like to think their spot is safe. A kid taking visits, IMO maybe not so much. Probably depends on how the board looks at that position. IMO DE/possible OT is not ones to play around. The staff is turning away some pretty good talent at both positions right now.

Maybe a quick call squashes it all. "If you want to consider other options Dylan, we will need to as well".

Then see what he wants to do.

If he's good enough for LSU or Bama then he should have a spot with us no matter what.
