'15 TN DE Dylan Jackson (former UT commit)

If he's good enough for LSU or Bama then he should have a spot with us no matter what.

So you feel that any recruit bama or lsu offers should have a guaranteed spot in UT's recruiting class if they decide they want to be a Vol? Obviously, that just not possible. IMO Dylan would be wise to not open the door for another talented DE recruit to take his place IF he knows he wants to be a Vol.

Yes I think a player who's good enough for either of those two programs is good enough for us and when he's literally 10 min from campus you do all you can to keep him. I don't see dropping him simply because he takes a visit unless you absolutely know you can upgrade at the position IMO. If he takes visits the staff should keep recruiting him as hard as they did to land his committment and not "give away" his spot as a result. Paul Johnson does this and we see the caliber of athletes he lands at GT. If dropping Jackson lands you Walker and KP that's probably a win-win.

Maybe you don't quite get how silly that mindset is. If you add up all the kids bama and lsu offered in 2015 and then tell yourself that all 250 or so of those kids has a "guaranteed" spot in Tennessee's 2015 class, with 24 spots available that clearly makes no sense at all. Also much like Tennessee does, I'd bet ALOT of those offers extended by bama and lsu are not committable and may never would be. Not saying that is the case with Dylan, but is the case with 80%+ of them.

Tennessee has extended about 300 offers for 2015. Only taking 24 clearly shows ALOT of them are worthless offers that mean nothing. We have seen that already play out with a lot of the kids who have tried to commit.

I still think the best thing for Jackson to do is keep things shut down and only OV to Knoxville. He takes trips elsewhere and IMO his spot is gone.

Offers are more used to gauge interest than anything else. If the kid has us in his top five, we will go after him after being offered.

Jackson is a Tush Hog! O-line for what? Going to be a physical player for us ON DEFENSE! That is why he is getting offers from the teams that have a reputation for being physical....Bumma, LSpew, and Stanford.

He is being recruited at tackle from those teams. He will probably be a similar situation to Jashon Robertson

Jackson's spot will never be gone unless he chooses to decommits

Leb use some damn common sense. I don't have time to have conversations and try to defend statements as asinine as not having room for 250 prospects when absolutely no one expects that, except maybe Nationdom. The point is you don't cut loose a local prospect who's good enough for the best programs in our league because he takes a visit. Nothing more to it.

IMO, you do if a prospect equally or more talented wants on board and isn't going to flirt with the enemy. But like I said...thats just my opinion.

I just want talented players who bleed orange and don't listen to fluff from other schools (after they have committed, that is). Maybe that is too much to ask.

That's how I feel about it. I have no issue with kids taking their time and or wanting to take some visits. Once they have committed, then it's a different story. I don't care how talented they are, how any stars they have, or how many miles they are from Knoxville. Don't commit until you are sure and ready to shut things down. For me, it's just that simple.

Dylan seems sold on UT. I hope he starts or continues actively recruiting the top players we're currently recruiting to Tennessee along with assisting current commits recruit like K. McKenzie, C. Cherry and A. Butcher.

Last year we had local guys that were star recruits doing this and need local recruits to really help out again. Their families can host and have a lot of advantages being close to campus and the stadium. We're on the verge of closing with some major recruits.

Agree. If a player waivers and another just as talented that Bleeds Orange wants to commit, well...

I know what I would do. (Take the sure thing.)

Edit: There is no sure thing in recruiting. I know.
